When asked if it was possible to play games on PS4 without ever connecting it to the internet (which means no day one patch), Shu gave a pretty straight answer.

"Yes."

Well it is possible for both to be true.

If you never connect it to the internet, yes you can play games on the PS4 offline. Once you connect it to the internet it downloads a DRM-like patch that means you need to be connected from then on.

I doubt that will happen tbh, but it is physically possible.

"C - None, common practice"
it is common practise for a large organisation to evaluate all their options. what matters is the option they ultimately chose.

The confirmation will happen anyway

What is interesting is that the question, even hypothetical, is so hard for some to answer.

which also applies to MS of course...

not really, because sony left it on the drawing board (and no-one knew until now, assuming ofcourse it is true). MS went ahead with it and tried to push it for many months before accepting defeat. MS didnt just evaluate DRM, they went ahead with it.

If the rumor is true it s not an evaluation of DRM that happened but a full fledged implementation.

And if you say common practice you consider that the entire process, including the denied 180, is a standard practice of the entire industry.
