You can place blame in whichever direction you want- but the Wii U is a Nintendo Console and therefore Nintendo is responsible for making it a viable platform for gamers and games- they have not done so and that point is difficult to refute based on the # of units sold and the very low rate of software sold. Only Nintendo Land (the main pak in game) and Mario U (the only big name game for the 1st 9 months of the consoles life) have sold good numbers- no other game has broken 600k retail as of the most recent sales data released
It is obvious that both Microsoft and Sony don t sit back and wait for their box to get support- they go out and get it- they do what it takes to get developer and gamer support and they make a box that most developers are not restricted in developing for-
The lack of support for the Wii U all around is solely Nintendo s responsibility- If so many Nintendo fans did not let Nintendo take them for granted then Nintendo would more likely get the message faster-
We only have Nintendo gaming products in our house (Wii, Wii U and 3DS) I want them to succeed, I want them to remain independent, I don t want them to go 3rd party only and def don t want to see Nintendo games on the I-pad (at least in the current environment of app games) So I support Nintendo s overall vision- but I don t support them taking their customers for granted, misleading their customers, not defending the Wi U in the market place and giving less than their best effort re the Wii u
Next year it looks like we will get some of Nintendo s big games released- but I wonder just how many games Nintendo will release in 2014 and when in 2014 they will be released- This holiday is the peak of 3rd party support and it will drop like a rock after I think Nintendo will truly have to carry the Wii U in 2014 far more than 2013 because at this point I think we will have even less 3rd party support than we have to date-
