Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why does Microsoft and Sony get a free pass?

I can say the same to you, so there is no need to go there.  I am merely pointing out your double standards and correcting your spread of misinformation.

My install went smoothly I don't deny that, nobody would have had a problem if it had beeen in the console to begin with though surely even you can agree to that.  All three updates should be in the console, none of them should be taking the loyalty of day 1 adopters for granted.  Even the best infrastructure can heamorage.  Why take the risk?

Day one updates are amazing. These consoles begin production months before launch and need the OS installed at that time. However with a day one update the coders can keep working on it and adding new features until just a week or two before release.

Basically the alternative to a day one update is not update at all, leaving users with a half baked OS.

Sigh.  You recognize the idea of variables affecting Sony but not Nintendo.  Evidence that the op was on to something.

My head hurts from blatant hypocrisy.

Or evidence that your reading comprehension is extremely terrible and you like putting words in posts that were never there

Where are all the negative threads about the DAY ONE updates for the PS4 and XBOX ONE?

Remember when Wii U had one it was deemed to be unacceptable practice by Nintendo by a lot of users on these forums.

Just saying..

PS4 has a 300MB firmware update, how many GBs was the wiiu update?

I read 5gigs

For me, the WiiU update took over 8 hours and was riddled with errors every three minutes. I doubt One will be that bad, and PS has only what, a 300 MB update?

To answer your question, I do not think its THAT big of an issue when you look at it from a big picture standpoint,

Yeah Im willing to give Sony a free pass for that.

The Wii U update took mpst of the 8gigs worth of space. That would be my biggest complaint if i owned one. Considering ps4 has 500gigs i wouldnt care about 300mb thus no hypocrisy.

I think we are generally annoyed with Microsoft and Sony, but certainly with the PS4 you can just play games if you don't want to do the update initially

The issue as far as I can tell with the Wii U was that the update took forever. Just wait for the fallout when the update fails due to overloaded servers

If you waited a couple months after launch like me, the update took about two hours on a 3Mbps connection.

Day One patches suck no matter what console it is. In Nintendo's case, it especially sucked because the patch took FOREVER. My roommate got it day one and we had to wait hours before we could play.

What do you want Sony and MS fans to do? Not download the patch in protest? We just have to deal with these kinds of things as patches become more common practice for manufacturers since the option IS there for them to utilize it.

WiiU update was long as shit believe it took me about 3 hours, we'll see if the other two have similarly long times to wait until you can really get started playing your new console.
