Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Q2 Earnings October 30th - Results Inside

The share price is holding fairly steady at around $14.50. As such, it looks like I'm holding through the quarter report and crossing the fingers for a return to operating profit to drive up the price. It doesn't look like a huge gain beforehand is coming, and I wouldn't expect a massive drop after the report with the Christmas season upon us.

Market expectations: 43 million operating loss for Q2.

Hopefully Nintendo surprises with an operating profit.

I'm expecting a downward revision in Q3. Nintendo will most likely achieve an operating profit between 400-500 million by year-end, far away from their 1 Billion profit goal as of now.

Nonetheless, the important aspect to take away is that Nintendo will finally be back in the black.

Iwata said 100 billion yen operating profit ALONE for the FY. So far with the Q1 results they are further away from that goal since they've posted a loss. I doubt things will change for Q2.

Q2 was better than Q1, though.  3DS business really picked up, and Wii U began to show signs of life toward the end of September.  They'll fare a little better than they did last quarter, for sure.  It all comes down to Q3 results in January.  That's when we'll know if Nintendo performed well enough over the holidays to be near their $1 billion target.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Where are you getting the market expectations?  I'm curious. If that's what is expected I think stock may go up some. They'll probably have an operating profit thanks to Monster Hunter alone.

About 3 hours left until results come out.

Seems investors are a little apprehensive about the results. Nintendo currently trading down 1.5% in Japan.

Don't stocks usually go down right before earnings reports come out? Investors always expect the worst.

On most ocassions yes; however, the Nikkei is currently trading above 1.25%.

Let's hope results meet or exceed market expectations.

I have come here to formally wish Nintendo all the best. I hope the results hey post are good and I hope both the wii u and the 3ds meet our exceed their targets for the full year. Other than that I know nothing. But all the best to Nintendo. The games industry needs them.
