To be fair, Nintendo brought that on themselves by sticking with cartridges, even if Sony never entered the industry, I'm pretty sure those developers/publishers would've just backed Sega and the Saturn instead. (assuming that the N64 would've stayed as-is, it could've gone on to be CD-based if that was the case and certainly would've been infintely easier to develop for)
But I agree, except the 3rd points you made being a little trivial, lol

I disagree strykie, i believe it wasnt about cartridges, Sony probably gave them some cash or did other favours to them.

Shinji Mikami also welcomed the PS1 and Dreamcast with welcome arms before "randomly deciding" to lead develop for a system with middle-child syndrome.
And the failure rates of Sony's systems have always been well within the norms of the general electronics industry, I suppose you're just significantly more liable to hear about them when they're in the hands of 100m+ consumers whilst your nearest relevant competitors doesn't even have 20% of their market share. I don't think it's a coincidence that the PS3 and PSP pretty much got let off with a slap on the wrist.
Now in the case of the 360, where RROD already went viral long before it even surpassed the original Xbox install base, yeah, that's a no-brainer.
Just for the record, I've had disc drive problems with all 3 of Sony's consoles while my OG Xbox is still going strong, but let's be realistic.

When can I replace my Vita? It's already been close to 2 years now. My PS3 is more than 4 years old now too.
Nintendo:
Local multiplayer
Innovation
very strong 1st party
Sony
Hardware
Better online structure
strong 3rd party support
WII U // PC // 3ds XL // VITA
For the most part, I like how this thread turned out. I've been watching the "Console Wars" for years and there have been too many times where one fanbase would never admit that the competition does ANYTHING better than their favorite company. Good to see minds opening up.
