Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Bigger than Ocarina of Time 3D?

Nintendo Life, an online news site and reviewer for Nintendo-related stuff, has just published an article claiming that THe Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will be approximately 685 MB.

Now, 685 MB may not sound like a lot. Lots of 3DS games are a full 1 GB or more. However, do you remember how large Ocarina of Time 3D was?

481 MB. Over 200 MB smaller.

is beigger than

Now, I'm not an expert on what file sizes mean for games, but I find it interesting that a 2.5D game with, frankly, not that impressive graphics would be significantly larger than Ocarina of Time 3D, an already expansive game.

Does this mean that A Link Between Worlds will end up being relatively huge? Could it have the dozen or so dungeons of the SNES original? Is this going to be the biggest handheld Zelda ever?

Or am I reading too much into this?

481MB is for the 3DS version od OoT. The 15 years old version you speak of was 32MB.

ALBW is fully 3D, probably with a lot more polygons and details than OoT. It should be bigger. The perspective doesn't mean that much when it comes to file size. And an opening intro video or whatever could take up more space than anything.

its definetly going to be an awesome game

Not even that! It was on a 32 MB cartridge, but the entire game was only about 25 or 26 MB. Nintendo just didn't have any cartridges designed that shaved off those few extra MB of space.

On a completely unrelated note, the original Link to the Past was UNDER 1 MB. So in both cases, the 3DS remake/sequel is huge in comparison!

Well, I have the regular NA ROM of the game on my computer, and it's 32MB (32 768 KB). Make whatever you want from that.

That's assuming I don't have the actual cartridge, right?
