Forums - Gaming Discussion - Buying COD: Ghosts over BF 4 Only because of local multiplayer

Am I alone in this ? Really annoys me too, since I've liked the last few battlefield games a lot more than the last few Call of Dutys. The people I know play battlefield on PC, but that's not the issue, Since I likely wont buy the PC version either. I just like getting together with friends and playing. Unfortunately though, Out of the big 3 (Shadowfall, Ghosts, Four) Call of duty is the only game that allows that.

Not saying call of duty is bad or anything. I just find them too over the top Action movie these days for me. I really liked Call of duty 1,2,4 and waw.

Anyways, not to derail. Local multiplayer. It's severely missing from these high budget games, where it really makes sense to have it too. (and most launch games)

Real life local friends are overrated

Didnt you play BF3, its nothing like COD. In fact COD is trying to be more like BF with slightly destructable maps and class systems. Cod is dying while BF is thriving

I'm buying neither. Killzone all the way, baby!

I could have bought Battlefield, but BF3 was just too bad in my eyes. Also I don't like that Premium Bullshit at all. I bought BF3 at launch and then some time later, they told me I should please spend another 50 € just for some maps and stuff. Today you can buy the premium edition for 35 € while premium alone as an add-on still costs 50 €. Screw dat. I'm only buying Battlefield again if it has Bad Company in its name. Or maybe, just maybe, I'll give Battlefield 4 a chance when the premium edition is available for 30 €. Oh, and by the way, BF3 had the worst Single Player campaign I have ever played. I'm not kidding, it sucks BAD.

As for Calladooty, couldn't care less. I stopped playing those games after part 2. It just didn't turn me on anymore, it felt like medal of honor with another name. But I'm pretty tired of that. Really, I hope Gen 8 won't be another Gen of shooters.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Yes I did, on my PC. Battlefield 4 doesn't have local multiplayer though. Which again, is why I'm getting call of duty instead, despite battlefield lately appealing more to me.

@OdinHades Getting Killzone too, but very sad that it doesn't have local multiplayer aswell. It would be even more exceptional since that game supports bots. Just the thought of 4 player local multiplayer in shadowfall seems amazing. I'm very sad it's not something the developer is looking at implementing. They are hardly the only ones, but it severly hampers the enjoyment I'll get out of the game. Hopefully in a sequel, though I remain doubtful (since even kz3 had fairly limited local multiplayer)
I really was hoping for a battlefield 2143 though :P But yeah, the whole buying the game twice that everyone want's you to do lately seems a bit over the top. I'll take a good old expansion pack over DLC any day :P (although you can argue that bf premium is that. But being more expensive than the game itself is kinda iffy)

I should note this is for my PS4 that I'm getting at launch. I have a bunch of local multiplayer games for my ps3, but it's not really the same to invite friends over to check out the new machine and watch me play or whatever :P

@NiKKoM.. Sure seems like a lot of developers think that.

For games like bioshock it's totally fine. Story based games.. I get it. But multiplayer ? Why not. it's resource taxing, but you can tone down the effects when playing in local mp, and will probably render at much lower rez for every player regardless.. And even fewer games allows you to take your local friends online (about 3 games for ps3)

I would have gone with Battlefield 4 but if COD: Ghosts suits your needs then go with COD: Ghosts.

I'm former CoD (or rather MW) enthusiast.

I planned to go for BF this time.

Now I'm getting all of them: Killzone, BF4 and CoD too.
Killzone - because of story/MP. BF4 for graphics. CoD - MP.

I'm buying Ghosts too cause I actually loved BO 2 on Wii U.

just yesterday my two lads were bugging me to get black ops 2 back due to local multiplayer.

that's why ive got cod ghosts pre ordered its much better value all round

Hell yeah fully customizable and elected Warzones baby!  Play, Create, Murder should be the slogan.  Seriously I'm pumped after that Gamescom trailer.

OT: Why the hell don't more devs do local splitscreen online?  I mean is it some technical hurdle?  Are they just pushed to make people buy more systems by not being able to play with friends on the same one?  I don't get how Halo, Borderlands, COD, and Resistance 2 can be the only ones who can accomplish this it seems.  Just let me connect my friend's PSN through the second controller and BAM!  My roommates could play Killzone with me on launch day.
