Forums - Gaming Discussion - [CONFIRMED by IW] COD: GHOSTS run at 720p 60fps and 1080p 60fps on PS4

So, @ethomaz, for a 1080p to 720p we have to assume that Microsoft made everthing wrong and Sony made everything right, don´t we?

Or that in the long run the "gap" will be minimal?

right?

I just want to throw my two cents into that question:

-I have been flat out saying that the Xbox One is in reality Half as strong for a long time.  But you can find that thread for the reasons...

-Whether it is half as strong or not, it is weaker, and in fact I have to say it was practically designed to run at around 720p for thease reasons:

1) The slower bandwidth makes it harder to supply higher resolutions fast enough

2) The CPU frequency speed up makes 720p gaming get a noticable bump (CPU speed does not effect higher resolutions as much)

3) The ESRAM frame buffer is really only big enough for 720p or a little higher

-Then realize that Microsoft was clearly surprised by the PS4's surprisingly imminent launch, and was forced to launch the Xbox One's launch to the point that devs didn't get proper dev gets as soon as they should have.

-This also caused the drivers to be no where near ready.

That is why.

Cboat said activision is trying hard to get 1080p ( or 900p at least?) on Xbox One.

I think they can but they will sacrifice something else like the framerate, to be able to say " its also 1080p on xbox one ! (but dont look at the framerate please) "

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I was expecting that after the "bad" press that the 720p got this week.

Both MS and Activision are not happy with that.

Doubtful. IW will do everything they can to ensure the game runs at 60 FPS even if that means lowering the resolution. The 'feel' of CoD gameplay would be severely comprimised (as would sales) if it didn't hit a rock solid 60 FPS.

IW won't sacrifice framerate for resolution, they practically invented the "slash the resolution to prioritise 60fps" approach.

Even at long run the "gap" will be big... there are big difference between powers this time.

Actually the difference is smaller this time.

Quit spreading your unproven fud. Every dev that is not a PS4 exclusive dev has come out to say they are very similar with practically the same performance and they are both easy to develop for compared to last gen.

So maybe a sacrifice on the visual, since they dont care

Yeah... believe in what you want lol

This is the first time I saw so big gap between two consoles in the same generation.

PS4 - Xbone >> Xbox - PS2 > PS3 - 360

I think the gap is equal to Xbox-PS2 ( it was a big one) , the gap between PS3-360 game was not that big, except for maybe 5 games ( bayonetta,...)

ITs the first time in history that we have a more powerful system, cheaper and easier to develop for at the same time.

PS4 is in a very good position, Xbox One is in the worst position ever, from this pov.

Na..Xbox original was the worst position microsoft was in, despite a more powerful box, the sales difference was jarring. I don't think we will see a gap that big success wise or anywhere close to it.
