A peson should have "30 grams of sugar per day max, which is equivalent to only 120 calories per day or about one quarter of average current consumption. " A 12oz can of Coke has 39 grams of artificial sugar. In just one can of 12oz soda you already have well over what your suppose to have in a single day. Fruits, vegtables, and other foods with natural sugars are how we are suppose to get our sugar, not soda and other processed drinks and foods.

Oh my god, someone who can actually follow the rules of logic. Finally, thank you.

Your source does not say that soda is bad though. It simply says a regular can of coke exceeds the recommendation for sugar. And it doesn't address the diet variant.

At least one of these links should be enough evidence to prove soda is unhealthy. To Sum up:

1. Soda can cause weight gain
2. Bad for your teeth and bones
3. Blood pressure spikes; can cause heart issues later on in life
4. Diet soda is worse than regular soda
5. Causes dehydration

Around the Network

Well, smroadkill15's post should end this little debate.

Yes, sugar is required for a human to survive but like someone else said, if you are eating a healthy diet fruits should be a persons MAIN source of sugar.

The reason why soda isn't considered healthy isn't just the amount of sugar (although it's a big one), its could also contain caffeine (which is a tasteless drug that increases a persons heart rate), and high fructose corn syrup (this is ANOTHER completely different type of sugar extracted from corn stalks). The HFCS is what causes most of the harmful effects (diabetes, heart disease, messed up livers, etc.) that the body goes through when you drink soda.

Now, drinking a 12oz. soda every once in a while isn't really bad but its still unhealthy. Drinking a 12oz. soda a day is getting worse. The ingredients in soda aren't good for you and adds absolutely no good benefits to any diet.

That's what me and most people in this thread is trying to tell you.

Didn't see any evidence posted, just a bunch of excuses.

If you've read about it, you'd be able to cite a study in less time than it took you to write all of those excuses.

I don't think I stated my beliefs on this topic. You and Seece love to make assumptions. I never said I drank soda either. I'm simply a person who doesn't blindly accept things on the news without investigating them. Try it some time, instead of being a typical sheep.

Comparing a country to a continent? You really would benefit from a logic course.

Neither am I and I have done my research - a long time ago, so I can't cite a particular study just like that, but the way human body works hasn't changed. In fact I can point to my mother as a source - she's a university's professor of food chemistry. She's the most credible source I can get, as I'm sure she wouldn't lie to me because she wanted better ratings or some company paid her. Happy?

If you are defending a point of view that you know is wrong then stop acting like a typical ass, who's pretending to be the smartest one around, schooling other people, while in fact just humiliating himself. Try it some time.

Europe is being compared to US on a constant basis. I'm starting to have serious doubts whether you even know what the word "logic" means.

"Mommy said so!" - hilarious stuff.

I'm not defending any point of view. I'm simply demanding evidence for a claim someone made. I don't think that's too much to ask. Especially when this particular topic is very muddy. As a skeptic, I demand evidence. I guess you're a faith person. Illogical, but explains quite a bit about your responses.

I'm not pretending anything, I often am the smartest one around. But I don't appeal to myself as an authority on topics I'm not like you seem to do...

That was one of the poorest attempts at defending an invalid analogy I've ever read in my entire life. I think you've become very unsettled at this point and should get some rest.

Bolded - She happens to be a quite successful in this field University professor. If you find it hilarious - have your fun, whatever floats your boat.

Underlined - this made me laugh so hard after reading your posts in this topic You are either carefully picking people (kindergarten children?) you are around or are very groundlessly cocksure.

If you want evidence - search for it! In fact, I could play your stupid game. Since you claim most studies don't show detrimental influence of sodas on humans - prove it! What studies? You are the one trying to argue against common knowledge, so you're the one who should be giving proof. But you know what? I don't care. I see what you're doing, arguing for the sake of arguing, fighting just to fight.  I see this and, if you have any doubt, I am knowingly not giving you any more arguments that would defend my claim. I know a troll when I see one and I'm not gonna give it healthy fodder

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

This was the lamest debate I've seen on this website, but at least it was different from the run of the mill console nonsense.
