Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I wish Nintendo didn't own the rights to the Pokemon IP

Nintendo does not own the Pokemon IP.

Nintendo does hold some copyright materials relating to Pokemon however. Furthermore, the Pokemon Company owns and controls the Pokemon IP and merchandising + marketing relating to the franchise - Nintendo holds 32% of that company.

...doesn´t 1/3rd belong to Creatures Inc. ? Isn´t creatures Inc a subsidary of Nintendo ?

I never got the hang of this actually :/ *scratches head*

Surprised X/Y got this reaction. I could understand a bit thinking DS entries were showing their age, but this one felt like they put a ton of effort in to capture new and old fans. I personally love getting a new starter and a gen 1 starter and seeing them in new light. Overall in content I think this the best entry since Ruby/Sapphire in a step up.

I do get how any series can see people grow tired and leave it though. Personally find the formula fine with the tweaks along the way and would find a "Mature" Pokemon game to be cringe inducing and far more juvenile than what they have done.

No Creatures Inc. is not a Nintendo subsidary. Common myth.

Just played a good 10 hours of Pokemon X on my cousins 3DS over the past couple days. I can't stand it. Honestly. It feels like more of the exact same formula I've been playing for 12+ years. It even seems MORE childish than ever. I get that they want the game to appeal to everyone, but what about the gamers that grew up with the franchise? When is Nintendo going to cater to those (now older) gamers?

I'm not saying make this hardcore Pokemon game. But I feel like a little girl playing the game now. It's sad really. Pokemon used to be hands down the best portable game available in my opinion.

Maybe they can make a good Wii U pokemon game. Or an MMO style Pokemon game. Something that doesn't involve dressing up my little pink and cute monsters or entering them into a fashion show.

Thoughts on the current status of the Pokemon games?

NOTE: This does not reflect the sales of the game, as X/Y will easily move 10+ million copies. However, how many of those will be people that grew up with it, rather than the current gen of 5-12 year old gamers?

When I was your age I was very insecure about anything that could be perceived as child-focused and often rejected some things from my childhood because I associated them with my childhood, and I did not want to be a child any more. Now that I am more mature, I can appreciate things that are family friendly and understand that being OK for kids doesn't mean it's not OK for adults. A prime example is WWHD, which I get to enjoy now after skipping when I was younger and insecure. Hopefully in time you will realise - like I did - that it's you that needs to grow up and mature, not Pokemon.

People criticize me when I say I'm ashamed of playing certain Nintendo games.

It's simply embarassing. I try to not care about what others will think, but shit, coworkers and girlfriends seeing me playing Pokemon would end my chances with them.

This latest Pokémon is horribly gay/childish to my taste. I like the gameplay but the style is vomit inducing, sorry.

Yeah, it was the same for me...when I was 13 !

Then I grew up and I don´t give a shit if someone sees me playing Pokemon or Mario.

It is absolutely embarassing that some people are too insecure to express that they like a video game.

Christ, we aren´t talking about kinky bondage porn, or something like Rapelay !

It is just Pokemon....

Childish/gay? really? Pokemon is one of the most competitive video games out there and people dont understand thst which makes me laugh. Wen others laugh at you, why do you even care? You might as well putvaway your vita cuz any handheld looks childish nowadays

I'm actually being bullied because I'm the last one to buy Pokemon in my class. True story.

So... is there anything you actually find wrong with the games, or are you just upset that you're getting older?

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Get Pokemon you little girl, or I'll steal your lunch money.
