Golden age minus FF12. To me that was the worst FF game

square enix has been messing up thats what it is... i hope they bounce back on XV..... i really think they put 13-2 there just to fill up the title.... they didnt even put x-2 on the golden age

Hardly an age when just 1 game is in it, I guess. They will bounce back once they get into a decent time scale/rotation. They have an engine, they need proper project management to make sure a FF main series title is released once every 2 years, 3 teams working on titles, this give plenty of time for each game to be made and move MMOs to their own series (Final Fantasy Online).

Hmm, pie.

FF IV easily for best story. The entire game was nothing but a classic Shakespeare tragedy.

FF VI a very close second.

FF VII and on is where it started lacking story and traded narrative for flashy graphics and dude bro casual mainstream appeal.

For example, FF VI had a 1+ hour ending sequence and FFVII had all of a 30 second unfulfilling FMV...

Hum... FF VII's ending FMV sequence is roughly 12 minutes long (that's without the credit roll, btw). While FF VI's ending is roughly 22 minutes long (that's counting the part with the clouds and the airship sailing over the landscape with nothing else happening, that lasts for 5 minutes).

Both are very close in length and far from the 1 hour+ and the 30 seconds you speak of.

FFVII, FFIX, FFX, FFXI, and FFXII......undoubtedly the creme of the crop within the FF series.

What holds the old school era back is FF1-3 and 5. Only 2 entries from that era ever really get praised and the others quickly forgotten about. Unfortunately the New Age mostly consists of FFXIII and it's sequels which is seen as the worst of the series. This unfortunately brings down FFXIV big time.

Are we counting handhelds too? Cuz the FF:WOTL, FF Tactics Advance, Crisis Core:FFVII, and FF Type-0 actually all proved to be quite formidable as FF entries.
