Forums - Sony Discussion - This new PlayStation ad is nostalgia overload

I remember when my older brother first brought home the psx in the fall of 1996.I was seventeen at the time and I still have fond memories of the day when I entered his room and saw him playing Crash Bandicoot for the first time.I dropped my books, ran down the hallway to get a chair from out of my room and planted myself in front of the 19 inch CRT television in anticipation of hoping to get my chance of playing this awesome game. This ad brings me back to the days of yesteryear, the days of my youth playing psx games from the time I came home until the time I had to call it a night.Great job Sony!I think this ad will resonate with a lot of gamers that are in their 30's,like me,who had some great times playing on Sony consoles throughout the years.

End of 2016 prediction

I had always been a big Nintendo fan since the NES/Gameboy era. When I heard about the "new guy" entering the ring with their Playstation, I was like "Fuck them, Nintendo is going to kick their ass." That was until I went over a friend's house and his nephew had the PS1. He had Tekken, Alien Trilogy, and Jungle strike. I was instantly blown away.

The look of the console was so simple, yet cool at the same time. The CDs the games came on were so different to what I was used to, having mostly played Atari, NES, and SNES. I had played on a Sega CD before, but the graphics/cinematics were of such poor quality that even the poor ones (though great for that time) on the PS1 were 100x better. The controller (originaly PS controller) looked so weird back then, but it fit perfectly in my hand and was very comfortable. After playing those games, especially Tekken, I was hooked for life.

Oh and the vid now has 610K views in less than a day. I wonder where it will end.

Holy crap, I just refreshed it ~10 mins after posting my message and it's now at 645K. 35K views in the last 10 mins?

This ad brought tears to my eyes honestly. I will never forget the first time I played on a Playstation.

One day I'll tell my son stories of my childhood with Playstation, I just hope he/she doesn't laugh because I 'll have to beat him.

My console gaming life started with PS2 (played Atari but did not own). PS2 life was the best part of my gaming life. All the great games I played while not bitching about visuals or other things. PS3 period is ok. I hope PS4 will be another great experience.

I have so many memories with playstation and many more to come!

Wow that was an awesome ad, probably one of the best I've seen.

missing those days with much more time to be a really hardcore PlayStation gamer which i don't really have the time now...

but gaming still my best hobby and PlayStation brand always my best gaming platform

i will still continue this hobby with every new PlayStation console even though i don't have as much time as the past... PS4 FTW!!!

It was the looks out the window that got me more than anything lol, I guess that's from being a Londoner and growing up on Nintendo and not Playstation (except for a PS1 purchase to tide me over between N64 and 'Cube). The rooms were pretty well done too, a Blur poster to a Kasabian poster is just spot on. Oh and the Dominoes box showing up in the PS3 era lol. Whoever did this really knows their UK market.
