Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS4 is as good as dead...

Wouldn't make any business sense. It would just kill off dedicated xbone games as both devs and gamers would prefer these PC games.

Microsoft makes much more money off Xbox games than they do off windows games.

If should be in the title, these misleading titles are getting annoying...

if MS went ahead with X1 fully support PC games.

They already have more than twice the amount of exclusives upon release.

At the same time, they'll be able to stop Steambox from taking over the living room space that they've been trying to gain, the orginal intention of the Xbox line.

We all know games sell consoles. There will not be any drought with PC games playable day 1.

WHat would be the point? The X1 (PS4 and all other consoles are included) is a proprietary box with little to no potential for upgrade and to be honest it wouldn't make any sense what-so-ever.

Oh and GFWL was the last time MS tried to capture the PC gaming market and it failed miserably.

I seriously doubt Sony's P;aystation brand is any danger from a weird X1 plays PC games initiative...

Couldn't Sony just do the same thing

Considering the operating system requirements, no.

So you are saying that Sony couldn't license windows for its console? I guarantee you they could andMS would be happy to do it too.

lol, the PS4 will still win by a landslide.

Sony is more open to opening up their OS to allow Steam in. Gabe Newell was talking about this before. MS would take PC games but they wouldn't let you play with PC gamers.

What's your point? Do you think Sony is willing to sacrifice PS4 software sales and give them to Valve?

I find it odd Sony allows developers to do cross platform play, but I'm not aware of any Sony game that does cross platform play between console and PC.

Aside of that, I'm wondering if PS4 will sell well at the launch since the almost total absence of interesting titles (aside Knack, Killzone is the only exclusive of the launch and is not that much). Also, a very stupid move by Sony: to make GT6 and Ratchet and Clank into the Nexus for PS3 and they are not compatible with PS4, it's like they are digging themself....

Title should have also have had "and nicki minaj doesnt have any implants!"

PS4 could allow installation of Linux, which would allow installation of Steam.

Absolutely nothing could possibly go wrong!

Actually Microsoft would be dead in this situation. They get zero royalties from published games on the platform (unless you buy them from Microsoft's online store or App Stores, which no one does) and the one who does get the royalties (Steam, Amazon, GreenManGaming, etc.) would get a huge bump up. Why do you think Microsoft made Xbox to begin with? If their plan was to support a thriving open eco-system, they would've stuck to Windows.
