Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One Dev: ‘We Have Just As Many Pre-order Numbers As PS4, Details Snapping Feature

Lol, yea this is pure BS. MS ALWAYS talks preorders when it comes to their biggest exclusives, so if MS had even 1M preorders for the Xbox One they would be screaming it from the hilltops so as too look even with the PS4's sale performance. Then you also have the fact that one has only enough stock/preorders for 13 countries, while the other has enough for 31+ countries. Sorry, but that math doesn't add up.

I hope people stop listening to this guy, like they have started to do with misterxmedia, once the actual sales numbers come in.

Assuming he talking about the US it is probably true. The whole reason they did the 180 was to keep the preorders on par with Sony.

I will love to see the first week numbers

I am sure in the same markets they have around the same. But the key words here are "just as many" and not "more".

Why is this thread invaded by YOU guys? Yet again; and you expect people not to hate on you.

What does accounting reasons mean?

It means "quickly come up with some big, convoluted term that will hide the fact that I'm talking out of my butt". That's what it means lol

I doubt they're all that close in the US, either.  The only real place we can measure preorder status is on Amazon, and somewhat on Gamestop (due to leaked memos.)  On Amazon, the launch PS4 is 4 spots ahead of the launch One (#8 to #12) in the top 100 for the entire year.  The standard PS4 is 56 spots ahead of the standard One (#39 to #95).  And the only reason the standard PS4 isn't moving higher is because its been sold out for about a month, now.  Plus, the PS4 has had 6 SKUs to split sales across (7 before Watch Dogs was delayed), of which 5 broke the Top 100 (3 have since dropped out due to being sold out for months.)  The One, on the other hand, only has only ever had 2 SKUs, the standard SKU only breaking the Top 100, recently.

According to memos that Gamestop stores received, they were instructed to be careful with how many preorders they take for the One, as there was limited slots, while also being instrusted to open the "floodgates" on PS4 preorders, due to an abundance of stock.  Even given the PS4 stock being higher, the preorders still sold out quicker than the One preorders.

While this is to take with a grain of salt (I mean the source :)).

I do not think it would be surprising to have both console very close in term of pre-orders at this point of time. Microsoft PR fiasco is behind and they did a lot of to fix that.

again you are talking about sony fans, geez.

and no, it would be surprising, because Sony is launching in 32 countries while MS is launching in just 13. meaning realistically sony has much more consoles ready for launch than MS. and since the PS4 is sold out most places it wouldnt make sense to say MS has the same number of pre-orders since MS have less consoles for launch.

as carl said, im calling bullshit as well.

I know people keep talking about how Sony is launching in so many countries but we also have to understand that Sony is not launching in all 32 countries with the same supply.  I remember reading somewhere which I will try to find the link where Sony is only launching with like 5 to 10 consoles.  I believe stating how many countries without stating how much supply can be deceptive.

Its evident that MS is launching in places where they sell the most so they can get rid of as much supply as possible.
