So I am a very big Nintendo fan, but also just a fan of gaming in general who's also always owned the competions consoles. This generation of systems I played my PS3 and especially my 360 way more than the Wii. I would only power up my Wii for the occasional game here and there. And the Wii U has pretty much been collecting dust since day 1. This was never the case in previous generations. I played SNES, N64, and GC way more than the consoles Sega, Sony, and/or Microsoft had out. As for handhelds, it's always been all about Nintendo. I loved my Gameboy, Gameboy Advanced, DS, and now 3DS.
When the PS4 and Xbox One was announced, I just figured I would get them day 1 and play the heck out of them. I figured that the next gen would go the same route as the previous generation where I would play PS4 and Xbox One more than Wii U (which isn't a bad thing).
But now Nintendo has seem to throw a wrench into that plan. I've been enjoying my 3DS more lately with recent releases of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and Pokemon Y. I figure those games plus the soon to be released The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will hold me over for quite a while. As for the Wii U, I haven't gotten my hands on Pikmin 3 yet, but I do plan on it in the very near future. Then there's Mario 3D World coming out soon (which looks amazing and will be a day one purchase) and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze. So including the three 3DS games I'm currently playing, there are 7 very good games that are a must play for me. I don't have as much time as I did in the past to play games, so these games should keep me plenty busy until Mario Kart 8 and the mother of all games...SUPER SMASH BROS. come out! I'm sure there will be more must buy games sprinkled in between the new year and by the time Smash comes out, so I shouldn't have a shortage of Nintendo games to play in the near future.
So as far as PS4 and Xbox One go, I don't think they will be day one purchases for me, I just don't see any must have games at launch. I will defintely get both at some point, probably sooner rather than later, but the point is I am leaning on Nintendo to lead the way in my gaming life again and it feels damn good.
