Nice reasoning behind it.

The dev said are no finishers or stage finishers in the game. So no ultimates either. |
So the game is a failure if it doesn't have those gimmicky finishers? I take it you don't play any Capcom fighters because they don't have them either. I assume you also don't ever watch any high level Evo gameplay since they don't ever do finishers in games that actually have them. Gameplay > gimmicks
Some people are trying way to hard to pit this game down. Everyone who has played it so far saybits a fantastic and deep fighter.
that's all a gamer wants to hear.

It's still Killer Instinct. It just has just been changed to be like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

Killer Instinct, easy combos? Are you sure you weren't playing Tekken?
Seriously though, KI combos ARE NOT EASY to pull off like you're trying to make it out to be.
The identity of KI was, different characters than MK and SF series and long, fluid and NOT EASY to pull combos.

Defintely not easy combos. You can string a big combo together, but if you don't use your finisher moves it will mean practically nothing.

No offense but I don't think you have a clue of what you speak. This KI is looking like the difficulty level to master will not be as great as Tekken to get in but will be mastered quickly by above average players. Once the above average players figure out the game, tough shit for the rest. In Tekken its even worse because the tactics put in for newbs cannot be implemented until close to the end of each round.
Having played it for ~30 minutes at E3 (I know a lot has changed since then):
1) The graphics (at that time) were pretty meh. The polygon models were ok, but backgrounds were sorta lacking as were animations. Nothing that really screamed "wow" to me. I liked the look of SF4 better.
2) True that 30 minutes isn't truly enough to get in touch with any true depth, but with only two characters two choose from, it didn't take long for people (myself include) to put together some decent combos that were really easy to pull off.
KI's combos have never been difficulty to pull of. Even the "manual combos" of KI 2 weren't difficult. Hard to remember but timing wise, not that hard. This KI felt the same way. Not saying that is good or bad, but, from what I played, it doesn't seem to be that "deep." Granted that was only for 30 minutes, so, who knows!
