Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which game is a real system seller?

Do you buy games or systems?

Games are where it's at! 100 78.13%

The system makes the game! 15 11.72%

Systems? PC is the only system I need! 13 10.16%

Total:128

With the new next gen only weeks away, it's time to talk #'s.   Most people recognize that no matter what games come out at launch, both the PS4 and the XB1 will sell out through the holidays and into January.

So, after Feb. 1 of 2014, which title do you think will be a system seller?

After deciding that, tell us how many units the game itself will sell and how many additional systems it will sell?

Some insight on why would be great too!

Whichever one has the prettiest graphics and a decent online multiplayer mode.

Uh oh, sounds like Battlefield or COD...  Not much to look forward to then.

I was going to hold out and let others drop their own opinions first. I will stick to the most obvious choice to me anyway.

TITANFALL!

I think it will sell 3 million games at luanch and help mover 200,000 + XB1's in week one.

Welcome to the club.

Seriously, I do a monthly feature for VGChartz's most wanted, and you know what the most anticipated PS4 or One title is in 2013? Killzone: Shadowfall, a spinoff of a series that has been around for years and was part of a crowded genre even back then.

Later this gen, I can see open world games with and without online elements becoming big. You already have Assassin's Creed, but mix in some RPG's, MGS5, Infamous, etc, and a trend can be made. But those games are not coming out for a while. So for now, I expect PS4/One successes to look similar to PS360 successes.

3 million copies of the game in one week? Three or four months after the console's launch? Are you smoking something?

I mean, I can understand 200,000 Ones being sold in a week, if the game is a big success. But there won't be any huge GTA5 style launches for the 8th gen systems for a while.

By the time Titanfall hits retail, there will be 5 million+ XB1s in the wild.  Also, Titanfall is available on the 360 and PC.  I do believe that it will sell 2 million+ week one on the XB1 though.

Mid-tier games are what get my excited, so it's going to be games like The Witness, Rime, Outlast and SOMA that sell me on the PS4.

Titanfall will no doubt add XB1 sales but i think the next Halo game will do better still

I agree.  I think that the next halo would have been ready for this Christmas or 1st quarter of 2014, but they are holding it for next year to pump the XB1 up next fall.
