Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 'Skyward Sword' should have been released as a launch title for the Wii U instead of a game for the Wii.

idk, the game was made specifically for wii mote... maybe in both systems. i would buy wii U version of SS instead of wii, even keeping the controls, but removing the annoying aliasings.

the right thing to do was release wii U 1 year early, and launch SS on wii U.
Also, all the late ports wouldnt be dated, great part of wii owners that get the x360 in 2012 would get wii U instead, the hype for ps4 and One wouldnd hurt the sales like they are now

Skyward Sword was meant to showcase that Wii motion plus was a viable control method for a mainstream game like Zelda.  For this reason it needed to be on the Wii foremost.  Putting it on the Wii U too would've helped console sales but it would mean even more delays to an already delayed game.  I think the one thing they should learn from Skyward Sword is that they should release an original Zelda game earlier rather than later in the consoles life.

Well, no one could have called it a weak launch-lineup if they released a new Mario and a new Zelda
