Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 'Skyward Sword' should have been released as a launch title for the Wii U instead of a game for the Wii.

I dunno, I liked Skyward Sword, and I'm pretty glad I didn't have to wait an extra year and spend an additional $300 to be able to play it.

But that's the point. It being on Wii U would have give extra incentive to adopt the system earlier. Do you have a Wii U now?

I do not, and I doubt I would even if Skyward Sword had been delayed. I probably just would have waited, as I am now. For me, buying a console is more about the timing than a specific game.

i would have died from the wait. But it does makes sense

I agree that it would have left the Wii without its own Zelda which would have been rather unkind given its level of success.

Also, even I liked Skyward Sword I think it is my least favourite Zelda, I want my Wii U Zelda to be bigger and better and not constrained by having to design a game around two completely disparate control mechanisms and graphically weaker hardware.

It shouldn't.

The Wii wouldn't have had it's own original Zelda title. Also, the wait from Twilight Princess was already ginormous, they'd have had to delay the game a full year on top of that. I don't think that would have done the game good sales-wise. Without Skyward Sword, Super Mario Galaxy 2 would have been the last 'big' title to be released on the system, at least the last I'd have bought. Skyward Sword delayed Nintendo's abandoning of the system a little while longer, keeping sales slightly higher a little while longer, so the game definitely helped. Moreover, we'd have to wait even longer for the new WiiU Zelda to come out compared to now.
Lastly, the game couldn't have been done on WiiU as is. People who say that haven't played the game. It was completely streamlined to the Wii's features, in particular the Wii Remote. Everything, from the combat to the puzzles to the mini-games to the story to the interaction with the environment, could only be done as is with the Wii Remote. Take that away, and you wouldn't have had Skyward Sword. If they would make it for WiiU, it couldn't have been Skyward Sword.

No.
Wii's last two years were painful enough, the precious few gems like Skyward Sword were all that kept it bearable.

Release it for Wii U instead of Wii? No, but they could have done an HD - remastered version of it for Wii U launch!

Idk,
On one hand, it would've greatly helped the WiiU pick up some slack, and the game would've benefited a lot from HD visuals,
But on the other hand, leaving Nintendo's most successful home console without it's own Zelda would've been disrespectful as hell, and would've only killed the thing earlier.

Now I just hope that another studio remasters TP and SS like Aunoma said, TP looks dated as fuck, and SS looks like it longed to be in HD just like WW.

Well, It would have made me purchase a WiiU on launch that's for certain. Wont get it till 2014/15 now seeing as that's when a new zelda will launch.

YES I AGREE!!! it could have worked better for Wii u and ZELDA SS sales

Switch!!!

No, everybody would have just complained that this game isn't made for Wii U and that it could have been played the same way on Wii.
