Forums - Gaming Discussion - This trailer right here expresses exactly why the jump from current gen to next gen is large enough

I must be missing something because it still looks like shit to me.

Now we all get to admire that gorgeous Lebron James smug face. With even more sweat. Yay.

There is going to be a jump alright but all these games are going to look like crap when 2nd phase of next gen come out. Hopefully they can refine the gameplay more because now we are reaching law of diminshing returns with zomg graphics.

We were promised HD graphics with PS360 but we got sub par HD with games running at 600 to 720P with frame rates falling from 60 to 30 as standard. Maybe something better this generation. That RAM everyone keeps talking about and the clouds could help perhaps.

Devs said its going to take three years for them to crack the Xbone and PS4 and understand their unique architecture completely. Games will differ from exclusives to multiplats, but all will truly be harnessed after the first three years for sure. Physics and animations as you might have seen with the new videos are much more realistic. No need for CG because it can all happen in-game now.

Pff, seeing them sweating doesn't mean, that this is Next-Gen. If I can smell it, we can talk again. :DD jk.

Looks very awesome! But I#m not interested in NBA^^

Makes sense but to the majority they arent held down to deep meaning and exclusives. To the majority of gamers that matters not. Better physics, graphics and capabilities add more to the experience for them. They don't need exclusives to buy a console which is why third parties lead the pack for many.

I know what you're talkin' about, and agree totally. But I hope, that you read, that was a joke?:D "jk". ^^

LOL Ok. I am doing work while writing and a friend sent this video to me and I was floored. I didnt know the difference was going to be that great in graphics and animation.

looks like a slightly better version of last gen games.

Did you just say slightly? I don't know what world you're living in bro. Nothing last gen had a shred of the emotion that was shown on these characters faces. Thats borderline photorealism. This is in-game and not pre-rendered.

I dont know what those faces have to do with next gen consoles and their power.

I mean look at this.

SAME GEN does that mean the 360 had a sudden performance boost from DOA 4 to 5? No it just means people put more effort into making faces. Add alot of mocap to DOA5 and you have "alot of emotion in their faces"
+ DOA5 sweat is better (because its on females xD)

Crysis 3 also looks good for a current gen game. (in terms of graphics)

Animation and emotion has nothing to do with power it has just something to do with taking time to making it right and putting effort into it.
If the face looks good enough (2007 crysis for example) then adding mocap is okay but stuff like LA Noir had "shity graphics" thats why mocap didn't work that well (it was still cool).

The basketball players sill look totally strange/fake to me so going from  strange/fake  to strange/fake is no improvement IMHO.

I am also still waiting for next gen games to blow my mind.

Meh. Looks alot better than previous titles. But after watching this, its hard to be excited by NBA 2K14 visuals.

Was that it? Err... no it isnt.

I been playing on my PC this game 2k14 all on Max settings 1920x1200, and is no were near this!, that was truly stunning O_O. This is next gen no doubt about it.

DOA is not the best game to talk about pushing graphics and Crysis is mostly pushed on PC even though console multiplats have been holding it back. Next gen for consoles is leap. Since PC doesnt adhere to generations then it never really mattered, but companies like Activision, Ubisoft, EA and others haven't been bitching to PC companies, just Microsoft and Sony because they want to attract their consumers to higher fidelity experiences.

Looks noticeably better than the current gen trailer.

Now for some conspiracy time, notice how at the end of the trailer only the PS4 logo is shown and that there is also a specific trailer for the current gen and (for some reason it's packed in there as well) PC version? The Xbox 1 is nowhere to be seen, could that mean that that version is not quite on par with the PS4 version? :D
