I doubt GTA will drop in a month, but even if it did Pokemon is already selling for $20 less. The majority of Pokemon copies will be sold at a lower price than the majority of GTA copies being sold. Not to mention the fact that Pokemon will sell far less copies overall. In terms of software revenue alone, Pokemon will take a pretty distant third. Merchandise could very well put it ahead though.

i never see pokemon lower their price after a few months.... except for pre owned ones of course...

When did I say anything about Pokemon lowering its price after a few months?

subtract the cost of the games...

and the other two has more source of income... you dont think it counts?

maybe cod has more source of income but I don't see the point for pokemon. Cod is coming on the next gen platforms and on more platforms so I suspect it wasn't much cheaper to make than GTA V. also GTA V will be atleast 10mill more than pokemon so the cost is cover there.

how many copies does gta 5 needed to break even?

9.5M-10M.

The publisher only gets 45% of revenue.

Licensing costs are set in stone like that?

GTA has already grossed over 1 billion dollars and it's still selling well. Just think about that. Pokemon is going to sell fantastic but we're talking a different scale in terms of money earned. CoD, unless there is a huge drop off, should tip the 1 billions mark, as well. They've got increased development costs, sure, but I doubt it will come close to what GTA had. However, Activision spends a mint on advertising for CoD.

I'm gonna say GTA. I think it will gross over 1.25 billion this year, easily, which is just insane.

I think it will obviously be GTAV. It's on course to sell twice the lifetime sales of Black/White by Christmas. DLC will be a huge money maker for them as well.

People are really overestimating pokemon sales. There hasn't been a pokemon that sold over 20mil lifetime since gold/silver. GTA V sold over 20mil in 2 weeks.

Another comparison is just the 360 version of MW3 is ahead of pokemon black/white.

GTA V on both systems will outsell the 360 version of MW3 and it won't be surprising if just this year both versions of GTAV sell more than pokemon x/y will lifetime.

So yes it will be beaten in sales by a huge margin. Considering each game is sold for 50% than each pokemon game, video game revenue for GTA V will be at least 3 times as high as pokemon x and y. I don't think pokemon merchandise sold this year will make twice as much as the actual pokemon video game so GTA should easily make a lot more.

 

Anyway I think GTA will bank the most. CoD has a small chance, if nextgen consoles are far more popular than I anticipate since it is going to be the big game for both the new next gen consoles and sell well for current gen consoles. But it's sales are going to depend to heavily on the success of nextgen consoles.

Since Nintendo is the only one from the three who also owns the platform on which the game is published on, do we factor in that there are no platform royalities in Pokemon price, and do we factor in all the profit that Nintendo will be making on 3DS and 2DS systems Pokemon is moving/will move?
