It depends, you are a Brit right ?
Maybe you can snap a WiiU for super cheap...because a store is giving up on it T.T....then go for the WiiU

If money is second nature, grab a 3DS ! There is sooo much stuff to play on it, I could probably live of the 3DS alone !

If you're worried about your wallet, you might want to get a Wii U. Whereas with the 3DS there are so many games you'll want to get, the Wii U can be a supplement to your PS3. Buy they best, most famous games and just get them as they come out. I have the feeling that if you get a 3DS you'll either not get all the best games, or get all of them and then have a huge backlog. With the Wii U you can enjoy the games as they trickle out until after 5-6 years you'll have a sizable library accumulated over a long period of time. Not to mention the fact that the 3DS is bound to break at some point while Wii U should hold strong. Then, don't forget to buy the best Wii games if you haven't played them already; you can buy them on the cheap and enjoy the full library.

Use ur vita as a Wii U gamepad on a PS4.  The combined costs is only money.

He has two vita's^

Um well get a WiiU. You say you like story driven games but dont like Japanese games(I have no clue what this means but I guess it means you like Cinematic shit like Contra. Or you havent played Metal Gear.

Oh wait those are japanese.)

I dont know if you like RPG's but the WiiU has X and Bayonetta coming next year

It depends on what you want. 3DS has plenty of options, but is gonna be the oldest "new generation" device at the end of the year. This means it will be on the way out in 3 years. The Wii U will probably last another 4 years at least.
You can expect graphical improvements on the Wii U titles as Nintendo hasnt tapped that much into the system capabilities while the 3DS is pretty much already beeing pushed to the brink.

At the end of the day, Nintendo provides different kinds of gaming experiences on portable and hme consoles. i would say, if you are looking at the future and dont mind missing pokemon, the Wii U is where you will see the biggest Nintendo games. If you care too much about pokemon and those smaller off the TV screen experiences then go for the 3DS. Its a decision you should find an answer to on your gaming habits.

With that said... i think ou may be making a  mistake getting rid of your Vita. The system is gaining alot of support in Japan (it competes with the PS3 in software sales) and PSVita TV will increase the installed base in the west to make it viable to localise those titles. It will be a niche device, but if you like Japanese games its the way to go. Also because the Vita still has potencial power to be tapped for series moving forward in Japan, while the 3DS is aproaching the brink in terms of power as i shared with you before. It will soon be a repetition of the DS and PSP situation in Japan. Despite what people say, i see the Vita lasting longer than the 3DS.

problem is i dont like Japanese games. I like new IP's and strong story Driven games.. thats why i have always gone with Playstation but for my portable gaming they dont do that. Its just half ased spin-offs of good games.

Hmm, if you aren't really a fan of Japanese genres, then the Wii U is your best choice. The 3DS is LOADed with games that  fit under the Japanese genre of yesteryear such as RPGs and platformers. Since a majority of its best games will fall under those categories, the Wii U with a few of its multiplatform ports (Deus EX: DC, AC4, etc) and its stronger indie titles (The Cave, Trine 2, etc) released via the eShop is probably the best choice for you out of the two Nintendo systems.

Not to mention, the Gamepad makes a much nice pseudo remote when watching Netflix or Hulu then the standard controller.

3DS

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Thing is, what if you want to buy more games? 3DS has an absolutely compelling software list. Get that now, wait next year for a Wii U.

I'd start with a 3DS to get over the blues of having a lack of desired games. There's all kinds of games you'll like on it. Then I'd wait a year or two until Zelda comes out on the U and buy it with all the games you like.

If you need Mario Kart 8 so badly, I'd just get the U and enjoy it with friends, but otherwise the 3DS is your best bet.

Honestly though you may want to wait on the 3DS.

Its probably gonna get some mad sweet bundles next year.
