there is huge hype for both the PS4 and X1 at the moment, and sell outs this holiday season seem all but certain. but what about next year? more specifically, the first half or next year.

Microsoft blew their load at E3 and went all out, they announced tons of exclusive games and content. but looking at their lineup the only exclusives that have a launch window in the first half is TitanFall (timed console exclusive) and project spark (most probably), both games are releasing on the 360 and PC. while im sure TitanFall and to an extent Project Spark will move some consoles can it momentum going through the summer?

The same goes for sony, we know Infamous is coming in february and we know the order is a 2014 release date, but we still dont know when exactly, though most likely it will be a summer release, so it can help keep the momentum of the PS4 alive. we also have the huge number of indie games, shadow of the beast, rime and everybody is gone to the rapture among others releasing, but again we dont know when exactly. also, are they enough to boost sales?

The WiiU had a very long drought of games not being released, that doesnt seem to happen with PS4 and X1 due to third parties supporting the consoles unlike the lack of support for the WiiU. but most of these games are cross gen games, are they enough? or will the PS4/x1 sales fall to "doom levels"?

if i forgot a game for either consoles releasing next year, dont go berserk please, just inform me and ill add it to the OP

Almost all consoles suffer a drought post launch, how long and how bad is what's different

Seeing Second Son around the corner for the PS4 is a good sign

yes but not to the same extent.

They won't, mostly PS4 because its keep on getting Games from Indies and PC and Sony said they are bringing 20 titles in first year from First Party Exclusives and we have many 3rd Party games. Wii U lacked 3rd party support and exclusives enough to get that system along with the name of underpowered system(so this is not future proof like PS4/Xbone for games and everyone thought its not a good investment right now).

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

It could be. Yes, both got a view exclusives, but beside infamous, what other games will come out till June 2014. I think, Mario Kart 8 will be out in April and SSB in June, like Brawl was (is this right?Remember sth.) When it came up to the pre-orders of Wii U, it was sold out months before launch. Like with PS4 and One now .. but after New year has started, it dropped a lot .. and you can count inFamous like a seller in the early months like Monster Hunter was. I Think, they will do better after a few months, but not THAT much.

PS4 and Xbone have excellent 3rd party support which will keep the system alive even though Exclusives arrive slowly.

I never said anything else. For Wii U, it looked like it would get great 3rd-Party Support, too. But after the first 3 months, it changed. And so can it happen to PS4 and BONE. We will have to wait. I Don't wanna know, how many games got stopped working at, when the first huge drop of ii U Sales came.

Nowhere near Wii U levels, simply because these consoles will have somewhat okay support throughout 2014.

The Xbox One will be struggling due to price, the PS4 will be "okay" because its the cheaper, more attractive option to the casual consumer.

Would anyone agree with me that tablet gaming is having a (profound) effect on traditional console gaming, and hence the lower sales of new hardware (Wii U so far)?.

I know a lot of people my age don't have as much time for traditoinal gaming due to work/life and so on, so they are 'casual' gaming on tablets, where they switch on, do a few swipes on the screen and then close the app.
