Namco don't listen to him. I, and other JRPG fans, do NOT want another Baten Kaitos style localization from you. I was so glad that Nintendo localized the prequel.

If you were really a fan then you would play the game with subtitles instead of using english voice actors. Do you want the franchise dead or alive ? 

1. They can still do the english voice acting and make a profit so not sure why your telling them to cut it out...

2. If you've ever played a Tales of game you would know there are literally thousands of lines of text, not just from the cutscenes but from the little scripts the characters have along the journey.  I don't want to read all that shit and it would be annoying for 30+ hrs and no that doesn't make someone a real fan...

3. Unless you have an accurate figure of how much voice acting actually costs them your in no position to tell them to cut it to save costs.

4. If I was just reading texts I would not connect with the characters as much, which is one of the most important things in a JRPG.

That article is referencing famous voice actors like Michael Ironside in Splinter Cell, the voice actors in Tales of Xillia probably get paid a fraction of what he gets paid.  If your refering to a JRPG that has an extremely small budget than yes they should just put in subtitles, but for Tales of they can more than afford voice actors for the 15+ year series that has loyal fans around the world.  If a game has the budget for it and knows they will still make a profit then they shouldn't short change the rest of their fans just because they can't speak Japanese, but if they have no other choice and the only way a game can be localized is without english voice acting then they should obviously just go with subtitles.

Maybe for series that have a hard time making profits off localizations, but that is not the case for the Tales of Xillia.  I remember they announced they would localize Tales of Xillia 2 before Tales of Xillia even came out, that means they knew they would make a profit just from the pre-orders they had at that time.  Btw I think it was a few weeks before Xillia even came out so the pre-orders couldn't have been that high compared to the final sales.

Maybe for series that have a hard time making profits off localizations, but that is not the case for the Tales of Xillia.  I remember they announced they would localize Tales of Xillia 2 before Tales of Xillia even came out, that means they knew they would make a profit just from the pre-orders they had at that time.  Btw I think it was a few weeks before Xillia even came out so the pre-orders couldn't have been that high compared to the final sales.

I guess tales of is one of those special series like final fantasy that is relevant in america then but be happy that it is lucky to make profit when completely localized when other JRPG's aren't able to do the same.
