You dont have to look down at all.

Jeez people. This is like the DS all over again.

And like the wiimote. Went from I dun wanna flail my arms around-> I dont wanna waggle like an idiot

Only the 'hardcore gamers' were saying that. Everyone else was loving the Wii Remote. After playing RE4 with Wii controls who wanted to go back to a GameCube controller?

The gamepad is the opposite of the Wii Remote; hardcore love it everyone else doesn't. JGarret even asking this question illustrates exactly why the Gamepad is not a gamechanger

Is JGarret also a so called "casual gamer" like us is ? LOL ;)

Lol. Possibly, ; ) ask him.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

If he was then that would mean that he's pretty compatible with the "mass market" therefore would have the right to judge what will sell compared compared to the others on here. The only ones on this site that will understand what will sell will be you, rol and I.

Fools the lot of them.

Spend some time with the machine rather than sneer afar.

^ Console was designed around the GamePad being the center piece for better or worse.

And they wont sell it at 199.99$ regardless.

They did it with the 3DS and the 3DS was designed around 3D gameplay.

Nintendo should put the pro controller in a bundle and sell it for either $199.99 or $249.99 and sell the gamepad separately for $99.99. Let people have choice. I think the Wii-U would really take off at that point.

why do people not get that when you do stuff like that, that the periphial fails.

Just look at the One and PS4.  I can guarantee that Kinect will destroy the PS Eye in terms of being utilized or number of people actually using it.  Why becuase EVERYONE has it, for the One, while its optional for PS4

Look at Wii and PS3.  How succesful was the move?  How about the wiimote.  If you poll 1,000 random people who are not core gamers, I doubt you would find very many that knew of the move, wheras a lot will know what the wii mote is.

But the Gamepad isn't being USED like the Wii Mote nor is it selling the console like the Wii Mote did for Wii. I'd be all for it if it was actually moving consoles and hooking people into the Wii-U but as it is now, it's doing nothing but hindering costs and holding it back. A $199.99 Wii-U with a Pro Controller would sell SO much better than a $299.99 Wii-U with the Gamepad. That's all I care about, Nintendo's success.

The Gamepad definitely makes a difference with Need for Speed Most Wanted.

Changing cars, time of day, traffic on/off, etc with the touchscreen is hugely convenient, and having one player controlling the world to assist a less skilled player driving the car is a great feature.

For Wind Waker, it's absolutely marvellous. The gamepad greatly improves the flow of the game since you're not constantly bringing up the menu to either switch items or look at the map.

Flames are conjuring under your post, so I'll discuss this with you.  I've been finding it more of a hassle to use the gamepad.  I mean, I have to stop just as much as bringing up a menu.  On top of that, I have to look up and down quite often as opposed to keeping my head straight and waiting the split second for the menu to come (Which is faster than looking down btw).  Plus you still have to stop while you're looking at your map/inventory.  Thoughts?

For the inventory, yes you have to look down at first when you don't know what items are where but for the sea chart you can easily continue sailing while looking at the map as opposed to pressing + which pauses the game. Also, in dungeon, I much prefer the quick look down on the pad than to pause the game.

So you can loose a heart piece?  I'd rather pause!  :P.  A mini map would be better at the corner than looking down.  Now that I think about it, I think Nintendo should have gone to the future and take holographic technology :O.  I think that would solve my issues.  That way both screens are in front.
