Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why DLC suddenly doesn't matter, specifically WiiU?

wiiu will have problems on dlc cause it has no hard drive space (only 32gb-8gb) and also the lack of account like the psn and xboxlive.....

Because WiiU gamers are too dumb to plug a USB drive in.

A lack of an account system is much much more likely than its limited memory.

Still I figure it isn't the main reason.

They never mattered. It´s a way of stealing.

2 TB of space on my wiiu and Nintendo Network account works just fine for me.  Not seeing the problem

It never mattered, IMO. GOTY editions with all the DLCs do matter, though, since those are the versions that offer the full game for the right price.

Most (at least with western games) DLC isn't content that was cut off to be sold later. Leave out the worst offenders like Capcom and that simply isn't true. Developers have explained many times that there is ALWAYS more content proposed and written than they can include for logistical reasons and there are always ideas that won't fit without side-tracking the game. Some DLC draws from that, some is totally new.

Some DLC is bad, some is excellent, and some simply average. Off to the side, you have the fluff, which really shouldn't bother anyone. Complain about the bad, that's totally fine, some of it no one should buy, but there is a lot of really good DLC out there that I'm glad I bought.

Quite honestly, I won't be very happy if a game I liked wasn't getting DLC on my favored platform. I was pissed off when I found out that the Fallout NV DLC was a timed exclusive for the 360--especially New World Blues, which was fantastic. Just putting your head in the sand and saying, "oh, but DLC isn't good, anyway," isn't a very good response. The best thing would probably be to bitch at both the publisher AND Nintendo.

Years of "DLC is not worth" or similar posts from Nintendo boards scared the companies, I guess.

I never understood why anyone cared about the lack of an account system. Fear of losing your content should still be miniscule, and the benefits (namely of being able to get games on other people's consoles) are a non-issue until Wii U builds a bigger install base anyway.

I agree that losing content is a small issue for a console, portables like the 3DS it's a big issue tho.

An account system can only positive (unless you hack your console) tho.

I would love an account system that tied my Wii U + 3DS + Nintendo Club together.

As long as DLC doesn't touch the main story of the game I personally don't care. Things like buying a DLC for the "true" ending or a key part of the story of a game is one of the worst things a developer can do, those kind of things really really pisses me off.

I still think DLC should be unlockables, I don't see the reason for having to pay for an armor where that can very well be an unlockable, other than trying to screw up the consumer of course.

The only type of DLC that makes sense is something like New Super Luigi U, you are basically getting a new game, that's a good deal.
