So PS4 will do better than PS3 just because some people want? Well I really want Wii U to be a sucess, but it is not yet.

Why PS4 will outsell PS3 in first year?

the ps3 did 7.9mill it's first year (2007) the ps4 is coming with more hype, cheaper and with a weaker competition worst case the ps4 does around 8mill first year. Now ask yourself this do you really see the PS3 selling more than 8mill in 2014????

Yes. Most PS3 games will be cheap then and for many people "good enough". The console will probably get another price cut.

If you want to play PS3 games, the PS3 is your only option, because the PS4 is not compatible. If your old PS3 breaks down and you have a huge game collection for it, you will want to replace it.

The PS2 was sold 14 million times 2007 and 2008 each, even when people had the option to buy a PS3 with PS2-compatibility: http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/PlayStation_2

Ps2 was 99 dollars and coming off massive sales. Ps3 will be at about 8mil next year unlike ps2s 14 million. And ps4 will be much cheaper than ps3 was at launch and sell better than ps3 launch.

The PS2 price cut to $99 was in 2009, not in 2007 or 2008: http://www.edge-online.com/news/ps2-price-cut-99/

A PS3 price cut to $129 - $149 for the entry model would be possible in 2014. And again: if you still want to play your PS3 games in the next years, you need a working PS3.

Point still stands 130 is extremly cheap. Sony will not cut the ps3 as fast because its not worth forfieting revenue over market share at this point. It may get a price cut but 50 dollars max. And that argument works with ps4 aswell. You want ps4 games you need a ps4

But many people can not afford (or won't be interested in) a console over $200 and games for $40 or more... think BRICS states.

These people will have the option to buy a PS3 or Xbox360 with a great selection of $20 games (or less). Plus the replacements of broken 360 and PS3 consoles.

And many people can affird the systems and will be interested in it. Even then the majority of people arent interested in ps3, 360 or wiiu anyways... this argument is just bad. The ps4 will sell and the ps3 will sell... both will sell and just because one does doesnt mean the other wont being they are selling to different peopke. However, the people interested in a ps3 have had the ability to purchase one for 7 years now...

Oh God, stop grasping at starws already. PS1 was outselling SNES, (i think, i need confirmation for this) PS2 was outselling PS1, Wii was outselling PS2, and yes PS4 will start outselling PS360, this is what next gen systems are supposed to do, so why is the Second Coming of Christ when WiiU does it by 2-3k in one region (and still gets outsold badly WW)?

"Grasping at straws" is quite ironic coming from you.  And "Second coming of Christ"?  Seriously?

You conveniently left out how the 360 and PS3 fared against the PS2 in their first years.  And I'm pretty sure the NES outsold the Genesis in its first year as well.  Funny how you accuse others of not having evidence of early console sales when you provide zero yourself.  What I do know is that Super Mario 3 was released during the Genesis' first year, so it's a pretty safe bet that the NES was the sales victor that year.  It definitely outsold the TG16.  Also, the SNES outsold the 3DO in its first year and the PS1 outsold the Dreamcast.  So your argument still fails.

The PS4/XB1, like the WiiU, would have been a tough sell against PS360 THIS year due to the reasons I've mentioned multiple times .  That's my point.  By next year they will be much better poised to compete since 360/PS3 will already be on their NINTH/EIGHTH years respectively, and finally on their way out with no new big releases like GTAV, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider or The Last of Us.  So my point still stands.  Oh, and WiiU will be doing much, much better next year as well.

And the Wii outselling everything right away has already been addressed.  Not my fault you can't grasp it.

Not if their price limit is $150. And if my PS3 works fine until now, but breaks in 2014, I will have to replace it in 2014... additionally to my PS4 buy.

The PS4 will not cannibalize the PS3 sales (much) and a price cut for the PS3 will not cannibalize the PS4 sales... mostly different group of buyers.

How did this Wii U thread derail into a PS360 fan-clash?
