Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U hardware up 685% in UK!

Wii U can get some hardware sales only for the Nintendo Games but that's not enough to be successfull with the competition of PS4/Xbone. I'm sure that Wii U will struggle to get 3rd party games even if that gets then it will have inferior version of PS4/Xbone with the same price point. So, why would anyone want inferior version for same price and also almost 80% of the people who buy Wii U will get either PS4/Xbone. Wii U is only for Nintendo Games so its sales will get high when a new game of Nintendo gets released and get back to normal when there aren't games from Nintendo. Nintendo is good at Handhelds where their IP's sell very well for Japan and good in World wide due to the popularity of their games for three decades and also their IP's are just Fun Games mostly like Platformers style visuals and gameplay, where Home consoles are weak in Platformers to become system sellers and they need different experience and gameplays in many games which is possible with 3rd party support.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

I've been holding on onto saying if the Wii U will ultimately do well or not well, because it's compeeting with old hardware right now. And yes, I'm curious about this holiday sesason... BUT, when things will get REALLY interesting, is 2014's holiday season. There's where the real battle, I think, will happen.

Sadly, this is a similar scenario to increases with Vita after price cuts & the like. When viewed in a vacuum and with percentages attached, it looks damn impressive, but then you stick some actual numbers in there and realise it's just at the levels it should've been at all along.

Nevertheless, an increase is an increase and that's a very good thing. No massive game attached with it either, really. And it's the first step towards a proper recovery and all that. So, not bad at all.

When I see these percentage increases when a game releases on a poorly selling device, I see it more as confirmation that games are, indeed, just what the system needs and that it isn't inherently doomed.  Given the fact that the Zelda game is an HD remake of one of the lesser popular in the franchise, it's pretty good to see how many new Wii U owners came for it.

I know I'm repeating some of what you said, but I'm kind of addressing the entire thread while using your quote as a reference...

Now if the sales would only stay on that level, which I very much doubt.

Easy to make HD Update does more than Pikmin 3 and TW101 combined?

Or perhaps the combination of Pikmin 3, TW101 and easy to make HD Update was enough variety to push some people to make the purchase

Maybe the price drop had something to do with it as well?

Im talking weekly boosts.

Obviously a slew of quality releases will do things for HW, but this one remake of a Gamecube game did as much as, if not more than 2 brand new games.

It's not huge though is it?? It puts its on par with PS360, and that's if the VGC figures were spot on anyway, from data we've had in the past we've seen WiiU has been overtrakced in the UK.

It's only in the UK! This is good! We have to wait and see the increase in other regions!

I know it's only the UK, I can read the title! I'm talking soley about the UK, and I don't think it's impressive. These are sales WiiU should have been surpassing all year ... not on the back of a price cut and big game.

of course its struggling, its a premature next gen consolse, people are going to buy whats cheapest ie ps360

@OT nice increase in sales hope it keeps it up now untill xmas

That's the best comment in the thread, so I simply agree to this.

Because the price drop had no effect?

ps3 gamers didn't mind doing the bolded. people will buy the game for the console they own.

and you people should make some new fallacies because this one is old.
