Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Will Microsoft merge Office etc into Xbox One?

Tagged games:

Their is a rumour floating around many a site right now that Xbox One could get Keyboard and Mouse support. Thinking on this obviosuly it would be easy to do as Xbox One has Windows 8 Kernell. So whats stopping Microsoft adding Office or Printer support wirelessly.

Xbox One is supposed to be an all in One system anyway. Why not add these apps in. Playing Killer Instinct one minute ( boss phones says he needs a particular spreadsheet ) and a simple Xbox Office command from your vocal cords slips open Office. This would or could be huge for Microsoft. Its more than capable with its CPU and Ram easily. You could even send your work via social network or Skype to your boss right from your couch.

What do you guys think?

I dunno how much it would be used, but I would love voice commands with office!

Excel, CALCULATE!

I see no reason that office 365 would not run on it.. Cloud services should be an edge for MS

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

could they do it? probably.

should they? no.

...putting office on xbone is just a waste of time and resources. the reason, imo, why the windows 8 strategy isn't working and pissing off customers is MS thinks people want the same experience on all devices when the truth is we buy different devices because we're looking for different experiences.

the couch and tv is not the right configuration to do work. ..so don't waste your time MS.

No. Microsoft might allow the web-based applications to work (not Office 365 - but the Web versions available through SkyDrive on the PC) to allow users to view documents in SkyDrive but I don't see the Xbox One becoming a home computer.

I think what Microsoft wants the Xbox One to be is a hub in the wheel of Microsoft services with the cloud (SkyDrive, Xbox LIVE, Skype, Xbox Music) being the wheel on the other end of that axle. In other words, devices can communicate with the Xbox One and take advantage of it (Smartglass, Wi-Fi Direct), but likewise they are also a spoke on the cloud too.

that would be awesome especially if voice recognition works fine with word and you can work on a doc in snap mode lol.... I would do some mean multitasking on weekends lol..... and do editing/page layout later

It might just be the thing that turns MSFT around.

btw, i'm high right now so whatever I'm saying isn't beleivable.

first win 8 is working so bad that it is already past OSX market share all version together.... but beside that if people weren't interested in all in one device they would still buy PCs on top of their tablet.... currently they want their tablet to do everything....

the only true issue with  win8 is not the concept it is the most advanced and polyvalent out there.... it steamrolls OSX and iOS, android and chrome without a second of thinking... because by essence concidering just the OS it does all of what the other do combine and better for the most part and in a more secure way....

the real issue was/is the excussion of the concept..... once that is fine tuned to be as much a mainstream do it all OS and a professional OS seamlessly there will be no valid reaon beside design taste to hate win8... it is a solide OS core... and a way more modern one and future proof than most of the competition no matter what real life application you are concidering

Just when I thought I'd seen the last of the stupid ideas from MS.

Is this a video game console or a desktop computer? Why is MS so insistent on forging hybrid markets?
