Forums - Microsoft Discussion - If Microsoft were to vanish in the gaming industry, would you...

I would still appreciate all the innovations they brought to this industry.
But I would focus more on PC Gaming then and probably buy a Nintendo console for some fun with friends playing Mario Kart or something like this.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I'd simply move on to an alternative..... Wouldn't anyone?

I don't think you'll get any hysterical "then I'd quit gaming" type posts from Xbox/360/One buyers.

I would!! I did it when sega went down... never bought a console after the Dreancast (went 100% with PC gaming) until XB came out..... I used to be big on nintendo..... but their blockbuster are not as appealing to me as they were before....

OP: that said there are more chances to see sony go south and the PS brand with it... than to see XB getting out.... once again even if to us gamer sthe XB and PS are direct competitors... the true competition for MS with XB is google and apple and other multimedia box makers......

i would miss the times they embarrass themselves

I'd remember them fondly even if for only Halo, so many great memories on Xbox because of that franchise.

indifference.

games is what people get nostalgic over. i respect halo but i've never played. beyond that MS hasn't brought anything noteworthy imo.

Yeah, I never really got into Halo, for me the big MS games were Dead Rising, Rallisport 2 (OMG why is this not on 360!?), the Project Gotham games and Crackdown. Also loved the early SEGA stuff they got for XB and the JRPGs etc they brought over in the earlier 360 days.

They seem to have all dried up now though.

dead rising is capcom.  never even heard of rallisport 2.  I'll give you PGR.  there's not a lot of love for crackdown i've heard.

They will be remembered, however they won't be remembered as a scourge or a hero in the industry because microsoft has made both good and bad moves at the same time.

Going to miss the features of XBox Live. I'm not 100% set on other competitiors offering such a great online experience. To me, XBox Live was the king of Online and will always will be till someone betters them. Other companies have offered great features, hell Iove the Mii Verse on my Wii U, but it doesn't stand up to what Microsoft offers.

As far as games go? It's a tough call. I wouldn't miss much from recent games - Halo, Gears (Judgement was just flat out bad imho so I won't miss it as much), Fable (Fable 1+2 are golden), and I'm sure as hell I'll enjoy KI and the newer Kinect Sports games. But Microsoft's lineup has always been below the quality of what Sony and Nintendo have offered, and that's coming from a MS fan. However, Microsofts saving grace to me is still what it has for online offerings.

The system structure itself? I think the XBox360/1 controller is the best on the market and the best thing going for the XB1. Not the system or Kinect itself. So MS has that.

I'm hoping the XB1 will prove me wrong but the majory strong points for MS - Online Infastructure, the bad ass controller, and Halo. Believe it or not those things were really key for me keeping up with the 360 and not buying a PS3.

Depending how MS moves forward after their 180 I might miss them dearly, or be content with just owning Nintendo's next system and a power house PC.

It's just that simple.

I would bash them for closing Ensemble Studios and find some bizarre, convoluted way of blaming their closure of the studio (and the ruinage of the Age of Empires franchise) for their downfall.

While remembering enjoying the 360, I would applaud their departure. They're a game-making company that cares 20% about making games, 80% about shoving non-gaming bullshit down your throat, and 0% about its customers.

Lol what a load
