Forums - Gaming Discussion - DualShock 4 vs XBone Controller Review

My question is: which one does he think is better compared to which one has improved the most? I get the feeling that he chose the DS4 based on the fact that it has improved more than the X1 controller. The only real argument he gives for chosing the DS4 is the D-pad, that was always better actually :).

When he plays the games on the screen, he does seem immensley more comfortable with the X1 controller or am I missing something?

From more recent interviews where the rumble triggers on Xbox One have been now put into game demos like Forza 5, it adds amazing feedback just not possible without. I fear once ive tried the rumble features with games like Forza 5 where you get feedback under braking ( ABS, Traction ) I wont be able to play without.

I can't see you playing Forza with a controller... sorry but you are saying something that won't be used for sim racing fans.

Theres many people who cant afford a decent Wheel. Also, theres times when its just not practical for me to set my wheel up with my family around. This is a very welcome addition. Any further feedback that allows me to find the limits of the car and track when playing with the controller is brilliant. FPS's will be great to. As will the new spatial rumble for the whole of the pad. Many things this comparison fails to tell how it fairs that other recent reviews go into depth on.

I like the analogy of Xbox Ones rumble is like the 5.1 dolby of the industry. As some media are calling it. Innovation is a good thing.

I've played with both and much much preferred the DS4

Admitedly, I only played FIFA with the Xbox One controller, but I really didn't like it. The texture just felt off and it didn't fit in my hand nicely. The DualShock 4 just felt like a tighter DualShock 3. I'm really looking forward to using it

@bolded undeline.

Hmmmm. The DS3 wasnt great imo. So while thats good its tighter Im not sure thats enough. For me at least.

Still anything better than DS3 is welcome to me. That controller was slow and made for my kids hands.

Yeah, so this is why people probably shouldn't listen to me over controllers, but my hands are "designed" around DualShock controllers, so they feel perfect in them. But the 4 is definitely bigger and doesn't feel as cheap as the 3.

The triggers also feels great and the buttons amazing. I can't say enough good things about the controller, it amazed me

The One controller didn't make me feel the same way in the slightest, and the "bumpers" were the nastiest buttons I had ever touched. I also don't understand why the Guide button has moved

Also, what was wrong with Start and Select/Back. They didn't make sense, but who cares

Im sure the DS4 is loads better than the DS3. Which will be great.

Im also good to hear as an Xbox user mainly that almost every site review has said Microsoft made the best console controller ever better. So Im pretty sure I'll be over the moon with the new one.

Im also dying to try out the new spatial rumble technology and the feedback triggers. I hear they are really good.

I can't tell if he's serious, honestly. But if he has been playing sims all this time with a controller, that explains a lot. The "sometimes I don't want to set up the wheel" line is no excuse, since he says "I won't be able to play without [the trigger rumble]".

Dude why oh why oh why. Oh wait....... why bother.

Yeah.... FIFA doesn't have clever use of rumble unsurprisingly

Yes, there is no need. You've pretty much argued yourself into a corner.

Right Ok I'll defend myself unnecessarily.

I have a wife and 2 kids. I dont really have an extra room for gaming. So I only set up my wheel after everyones in bed. Sometimes I play my Xbox in the front room during the day. In case others need to use the room I respect others and dont take over the room to much by getting all my kit out. The gaming chair, the Wheel frame and Wheel.

So yes sometimes I still want to play my driving games when I dont use the wheel.

Of course I prefer to play with the wheel, but I dont exactly have that luxury all the time.

Ive not argued myself into anything. You now look a bit silly dont you. I didnt want to be that frank, but this is a needless post, because you are trying to devalue the innovations on the Xbox One controller.

That's all well and good, but it doesn't change that you said you thought you wouldn't be able to play racing sims without those triggers after trying them...

The word "innovation" has already been devalued by people who use it in almost every one of their posts.

That can still hold true. My statement stands. For example If what early consumers and media are saying breeds true then it will add significant value to gameplay. Not just for racers, but FPS's TPS etc.

I notice when I play a game with no rumble. And thats the normal rumble. I can imagine trying a friends GT7 or something and missing the feedback ( I dont really have friends that buy wheels like me. ) So Im sure I'll notice it. Probably even get better laptimes on the new pads feedback with than without. In videogames your eye reference is often later than it should be to real life. Feedback allows you to react before your eyes tell you your slipping or locking up.
