Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft confirms no DLC for Wii U ACIV

I can only conclude that theres some issue with Nintendo and the Eshop regarding DLC.

Probably something Nintendo should look into, as its not really working out. Its not the first time this happens.

Either that or Nintendo really doesnt want to support the practice of not shipping whole games and breaking pieces of DLC out of the game to sell separatly further on.

A lot of games have DLC. This theory doesn't work. They simply didn't assign enough resources for the version for a platform with low userbase, so the team couldn't accomplish all.

How many of game buyers purchase DLC anyway? I've never bought DLC my friends never bought DLC why is it such a big deal?

Exactly, this is the reason why no having DLC shouldn't be an excuse for Wii U owners if the game flop.  It's is not like the game is missing features or things like that.

Like that would have worked. Nobody remembers GameCube at all, do they?

The only acceptable narrative is that third parties have it out for Nintendo. Full stop.

yes. third parties have secret meetings where they conspire against nintendo. EA, Rockstar, Bathesda, Ubisoft and others conspire against nintendo to get them out of the industry, because they are nintendo.

that sounds extremely ridiculous correct? but you just suggested that with your post.

Reducto ad absurdum argument. Argue correctly or say nothing at all.

im sorry but excuse me? you are the one claiming theories that have no reasonable logic to back it up, and go on to claim its actually the only acceptable fact, then you are the one trying to stop any arguments by saying "Full Stop".

however lets look at the numbers and reals situation on why Ubi have decided to not launch DLC for now. a quick look at pre-order numbers show how AC4 is doing. notice which version is not showing up on the charts? even the X1 and PS4 versions are doing extremely better despite not being on the market yet. in fact the PS4 version has as exactly as much pre-orders as AC3 sold so far, noting that AC4 on PS4 still has 6 weeks before launch. The WiiU version is showing no sings what so ever that it will be a success. why should ubsoft increase their losses by making DLC for it? if AC4 sells good on the WiiU for it they can release the DLC then, this isnt set in stone, and this is a reasonable and logical choice that any publisher would make.

And exactly how is ubisoft is "out to get nintendo"?.  werent they the only publishers that werent just a few weeks ago? havent they made a new IP for them at launch, that bombed miserbaly? and yet they continue to release ALL their big games on the system? add to the fact that WiiU just has 32GB of memory at best, a single game download could fill that up, why would anyone be inclined to be buy digitally on the WiiU with that low memory space?  The extremely low memory space on the WiiU hinders digital downloads and sales tremendously. but we ignore these facts, and we yell out conspiracy conspiracy.

Because my argument has a good decade of third party hypocrisy to fall back on, which you attempt to dismiss with the tired tin-foil hat retort. Your argument here, at least, is an argument and not a summary dismissal.

Assassin's Creed is naturally going to do better on the competing platforms initially, since it's spent all of last gen building up a fan-base there. This does not mean that Ubisoft should neglect DLC for the Wii U version unless Ubisoft wants to sacrifice a chunk of the market for that series (again!). They are stuck in a self-fulfilling prophecy. Aside from the fact that DLC is almost pure profit and they already have the engine ported, so there is no sense in not doing it aside from pointless spite or rank stupidity.

The numbers on ZombiU indicate a modest success. That it didn't make any money puts more evidence on the "stupid" side of the scales for Ubisoft.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, another game I don't have to worry about buying.

Ubisoft has been kind of irritating this generation. I was originally looking forward to their quality Nintendo support, but they keep delaying games, gimping games, and porting other exclusies over to other systems. They don't seem to really want business from Nintendo fans who really don't want to support these sorts of bullshit moves.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

not really, not when you consider the cost of porting the DLC to WIi u and lets not forget Wii U doesnt have a HDD yes i know you can plug whatever in to that but it doesnt seem like companies are willing to bank on that.

I'm not arguing whether making dlc for Wii U is worth it or not.

I'm just stating announcing "no dlc" before the game is released is dumb.

as opposed to saying no DLC AFTER it has already come out, thus really pissing people off who bought it expecting DLC? No i dont agree

What is UPlay?

"Uplay is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications service created by Ubisoft to provide an experience similar to the achievements/trophies offered by various other game companies. The service is provided across various platforms (PC, Mac, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Facebook, iPhone, iPad, and most recently revealed, OnLive). The Uplay app for the Wii U was released after the launch of the console[1] on 1 December 2012 on the Nintendo eShop."
