nVidia driver is still years ahead both AMD drivers: closed or opensource... the updates in nVidia driver is constant for Linux, AMD not (even the opensource).

Linus can say everything but one driver works the other not.

Well. I wouldn't say that. The 7970 Ghz edition can out-bench the GTX 680 in some instances.
Majority of the time, the GTX 680 takes the cake home in most of the benchies, but the benchmarks the GTX 680 does loose in, it's almost negligible. - But it still looses. :P

That's why the 7970's are good value, they cost less than half the price.

There is one thing the 7970 smashes the gtx 680 at and that's at compute. :P 

Look at dat folding performance LOL, the irony is killing me.

Doesn't matter on the linux platform. Whether nvidia offers better drivers for them comes short handed when it's closed source. Why do driver support when there are alot of programmers on linux willing to make everything better themselves. AMD is smart in this regard to let the linux community shape their drivers for themselves.

I don't think in that way.

If something works then I prefer it over the something that don't work.

To play game on Linux you have only unique option today: nVidia.

A hint for any gamer interested in Steam OS... buy nVidia.

Some Steam games runs better on Linux than Windows

PS. AMD GPU on Linux have less than half of performance than nVidia and yet can't run most of games... nVidia works with everything... DAT closed driver.

The partnership is with AMD too but they need to wait AMD shows the new Linux drivers that can fix everything because Steam games today didn't work with AMD GPUs (some works with terrible performance).

AMD said they will show good news to Linux users but well they says that every time.

Just because it's linux based doesn't mean that AAA developers will start porting to linux.
