That magical pony dust is called WiiU, which supports DX11 equilivant features.

Um...well, 5550 is DX11 compatible GPU...so not sure why is this "news" exactly (considering that's believed to be equivalent of what's most likely inside WiiU)
The game is using only 1 core? How the hell do they manage shit like that?

wasn't it a 4000 series ? I clearly recall reading something like that.

Some beleive it's similar to RV730 (4650), some that is similar to Redwood (5550) due to exactly the same clock and (speculated) number of SPUs/TMUs/ROPs. Anyway, IIRC, I think that consensus is that it's either capable of full DX11 or DX10.1+ (with some added functionality)

That sounds really cool. I tried out Mario Kart 8 using the GamePad as a wheel and it was a lot of fun. |
No I meant a physical steering wheel, not motion gaming.
Oh wow 720p and 30fps. That's really impressive!

One of Wii U's three cores is the "main" core and has 2/3 of the CPU's L2 cache to itself.

also the article is speculative, as in a point were developing was going on and they were experimenting tricks and work arounds to "emulate a similar thing".
I'd like to have an update on which features they successfully mimic'd from dx11 using their wizardry. We can only imagine what such talented studio could achieve on wii u though. Crysis 3 was canned by EA. |
Yeah, that's the way I understood it also. The title was click bait but when you read the whole article they stated they are using "tricks that emualte DX11 type effects" not that they are using DX11. In fact, the lovely Xenos is only a DX9.0 GPU which cannot be upgraded to anything else. (source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenos_%28graphics_chip%29 ). Anyways, the beautiful X360 version of the Witcher 2 looks to be the maximum these current gen games are gonna get in comparison to their PC counterparts. The Wii U sporting a GPU that is suppose to use DX10.1-DX11 level effects would bring games closer to their PC counterparts than what was possible with current-gen PS360. http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Wii-U-GPGPU-Squashes-Xbox-360-PS3-Capable-DirectX-11-Equivalent-Graphics-47126.html
so they said Wii U is a next gen console? Blasphemy like that should not be allowed here!
