Forums - Gaming Discussion - Tales of Xillia NA/Europe Sales Subpar, Bad News For Future Localisations?

Did you just compare sales numbers of games that have been out for well over a year to a several month old title?

Around the Network

The only Tales we will get in the future is on Mobiles... If we are lucky

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I think, it can reach the others numbers or close enough. when you count Digital Distribution and future sales. My favorite Tales is still Abyss.

Also, VGCHARTZ has an extremely high margin of error with these. So I wouldn't base any doom and gloom on those numbers. Even if they are the only numbers.

And Graces and Xillia, have oodles of overpriced dlc that probably sells.

I'm sure the numbers are a good bit higher if digital number come into play.

Tbh I don't think digital sales will be significant, but even if they were sales in NA would need to be doubled to be around the same as Vesperia and Graces f.

Already told you - your numbers are VGChartz numbers.

Unless you can provide a link to more precise numbers this is all we have to work with.

That's LTD as of June so probably March till May.

If 63,000 in 3 months can get us ToX, then I think more than 100K in 1 month bodes well for us.

Vgchartz vs random Neogaf poster lol okay. Also i think the sales are alright I also believe when Vesperia hit the 360 in america and europe it seemed like less than AAA titles could sell better over time than they do now for some odd reason. Hey were getting Symphnia HD and Xillia 2 so im sure namco is somehwat okay with the sales.

Tales of Xillia did better in its first month than Graces f:

VGC usually overtracks JRPGs, but it seems Xillia's sales are spot on.

So it looks like Xillia's sales are pretty much stable now and won't go up by much now and the numbers are not very impressive and that is putting it nicely :/.  Just to compare it to the other two Tales of games that came out this gen(all #s from VGC):

Tales of Vesperia: NA - 0.28, Europe - 0.13

Tales of Graces f: NA - 0.24, Europe - 0.09

Tales of Xillia: NA - 0.13, Europe - 0.06

I don't really understand why the sales are dropping more and more when imo the games are getting better and better.  I am especially surprised that Vesperia, which is a 360 exclusive outside of Japan, sold better than Graces f and Xillia in Europe when those are PS3 exclusives and I thought PS3 was more prevalent in Europe.

We still have Xillia 2 and Symphonia HD Collection coming out in 2014 and I'm a little worried that if the games keep selling less then they will no longer be localised, which would be terrible because I think the Tales of games as a series are the best JRPGs this gen.  So anyway what do you guys think?

2 flaws with that logic:

First and foremost: Xilia has only been on sales for less than 2 months, Graces f only a year and Vesperia a few years. If you're gonna make a comparison and make some sense, use the software tool on this site and compare them LTD.

Second: The Graces f and Xilia sales are probably undertracked, if Namco is happy to bring the games over it means that they're selling well enough. Those Vesperia sales are probably overtracked. The JRPG fanbase is on PS3, not on 360.

Alot of people are moving to digital, everything is gunna look sub par from now on

Kingdom hearts fan, stop trying to go doom and gloom and having everything decided in 2 days and drawing conclusions you dont have info to conclude through incomplete data.

First, Xillia did sell less than Graces f in the US on the initial week, but in europe it sold more (physical).
Second, this is a localisation budget not a full development budget. The games dont need to sell a million to break even. I'm pretty sure the localisation made a profit.
Third, its too soon to call the sales numbers. The game is still beeing sold at a pretty high price and its rare. In amazon UK its going for 40 + pounds. The last of Us for example is still on launch price of 35 pounds.

So, there havent been additional shipments and the price has gone up instead of down. This means that initial shipment sold through. It cant possibly be bad news.

Fourth, Tales of Xillia released digitally at the same time on the PSN. We dont have the numbers of those sales to add to the physical ones.

Also, if you ask me, whover bought Graces f as their first tales game cant be too excited about Xillia, even though Xillia is ALOT better because Graces was very childish and boring.

You are reading doom and gloom where there is hardly any, so just stop spreading nonsense.

Lastly, IF it was bad news, why would namco register the trademarks of Tales of Zesteria in the US and Europe?

Lol, that's a GAF mod with confirmed inside sources. Try again.

Also, in the UK, Xilia sales opened 20% higher than Graces f.
