Forums - Sales Discussion - Tsutaya Ranking (Sept 30th - Oct 6th) MH4 Still Dominates 4th week In A Row!

Like every Monday major Japanese retailer Tsutaya released its weekly sales charts, that are considered a good indicator of the performance of games in the archipelago of the rising sun, given that Tsutaya has a very large number of shops spread across the country.

I bet you’ll never guess what game was on top last week…or maybe you will. Check out the chart just below.

Monster Hunter 4 – 3Ds

Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate – PS3

Armored Core: Verdict Day – PS3

The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki – PS3

The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki – PS Vita

Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate – PS Vita

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – PS3

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD – Wii U

Youkai Watch – 3DS

Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life – 3DS

Animal Crossing: New Leaf – 3DS

Tomodachi Collection: New Life – 3DS

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team – 3DS

Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion – 3DS

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle – PS3

Sangokushi 12 With Power-up Kit – PS3

SPEC:Hi - 3DS

Battle Princess of Arcadias – PS3

Gods Eater Burst – PSP

Mario Kart 7 – 3DS

With almost no new releases, Monster Hunter 4 holds its place at the top of the charts with no sweat, while the rest of the top six sees almost no variation besides the PS3 and PS Vita versions of The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki trading places. Falcom’s new JRPG is holding strong near the top, which is a testament to the popularity of the Legend of Heroes franchise in Japan.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD also shows some staying power, but it’s pushed down one place by Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, that continues to gain users due to positive word of mouth and reviews.

In the middle of the charts we find the usual bunch of 3DS regulars that nothing seems to sink off the top twenty, while at the bottom a stray Gods Eater Burst makes its appearance, probably due to the fact that many Japanese gamers are scrambling to play it before the release of God Eater 2 this November. Wise choice there…

It’ll be interesting to see just how much Namco Bandai’s gauntlet of challenge to Monster Hunter will sell in little more than a month.

Boring week :? Cant wait for Pokemon X&Y, GTA 5, FFXIII-3 and God Eater 2 :D

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Pokemon next week. Should be good.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

That's... possibly the most boring Tsutaya I've seen in some time :(

Also, thread moved to the Sales Discussion forum.

Armored Core, Orochi 2 Ultimate and Sen no Kiseki hold pretty well. The Sony resistance doesn't bow to the king!

How many sales do you guys think MH4 has last week?

I'll say 160k

Monster hunter 4 number 1 and nobody cares >_

SPEC Dry! SPEC Dry is on the list! Wow! I'm very surprised but that shows how popular the series has become. Can't wait for the next film.

The 3DS absolutely owns Japan, and it's not even close :p

Two vita games above WWHD? Weird... Guess Japan either doesn't like 10 year old remasters or doesn't like Zelda.

PsVita needs a $100 price job xD

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

Well personally, the fact that we still don't have VGChartz numbers for the last week of September has me all screwed up. It feels way too early to be looking at the week after that already. I can't keep it straight.
