I'm a little upset that the scores are so low because I am all for this direction for games, they have their place in the industry. Also, should game reviewers really be reviewing this game, since it also is a movie experience?

I think the game industry alone is inadequate at scoring a game like this honestly.

Not quite at the point yet where the film critics can properly rate this either.

What we need is a serial killer slasher title like this. How many times have you watched a movie like Friday The 13th and was like "No stupid! Don't go that way! Go inside the house, NOW!"?

I would love to play something like that and yell at the movie and have it react.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

David Cage's wish of being bought up by Sony is probably squashed now that he is a one trick pony. $27 million dollars down the drain.

What the fuck are you talking about? This game will certainly make that money back and most. of the reviews are positive if you read them. Most complaints are A. Interactive movie. Which, really is a stupid complaint being that its been well known for... 5 years now? And B. The story is told out of chronological order which is a weird decision. But i doubt many movie critics woyld complain about that being that tons of movies are told that way

LOL  I'm just joking man. Regardless of reviews there is still an audience for this type of game, it will make money. I'll pick it up in about a month or so. I'm still playing FF14 and i'm buying a Vita within the next 2 weeks.   :)

70 Metacritic (sadly) isnt good.

Not by my book.

Let me close that book for you

By 70 being good, 50 would be mediocre. But this game isnt mediocre.. na ah, this game.. is BAD (Half reviews are mixed, half are negative). =>

View Raw Image" width="461" height="295" />

0-50 => Its trash, ignore it
So 50 is bad,
60 is mediocre,
70 is decent,
80 is good,
85 is great,
90 is incredible,
90+ borderline masterpiece

Beyond is therefore in the range between mediocre and good => decent.

I hope this game sells 2M+ copies. I would like to see more interactive dramas like this.

I hope this game doesn't sell at all...so that they port it to other consoles n_n

It's published and funded by Sony. 0% of that happening.

Why is destructoid still allowed on metacritic? Lol 5/10

Jim Sterling pretty openly dislikes David Cage and his approach to games, so that score isn't surprising.

After Cage came out on stage basically saying emotions are the most impotant aspect in gaming and the only way to convey emotion is with better realistic graphics.

Which I agree was a pretty stupid thing to say, I'm not much of a Cage fan myself.

I still find it a bit unfair to have Sterling review the game, when he has an open agendy against the guy behind it, I mean there are other guys that work for Destrucoid that could have reviewed the game.

The scores are low because of the point you make. A lot of the reviews are saying things like "the game play is bland for a game... and the story is bland for a movie"" from the ones i read so far. I havent read one that are like "yes the gameplay is bland for a game. However, the story is oustanding for a game too."

They are basically moving their expectations/criteria mid review and its worked against the game

Exactly, a co-review between movie reviewer and game reviewer would be a good idea for this kind of genre, otherwise we get what we have here, just a total polarization because the goalposts are completely confused.

I think they're adequate enough (see Heavy Rain). However, I knew this wouldn't reach those highs simply because...

A. We're at the end of a gen and a game like this isn't fresh enough anymore.

B. These are love/hate titles, anyway, but I believe Heavy Rain is the better game. Always thought it would be.

C. With the inconsistencies of reviewers lately, it's become harder to know/judge what they'll do.

Still, if you were always interested in the game, and have the cash, I say go for it anyway. This is their first title that hasn't quite hit the highs of past titles. They'll be alright and I expect their PS4 stuff to be received a bit better.

I don't like the pricing of games nowadays so I've mostly been sticking to classic gameplay. However, if this was on an episodal model I would probably give in. I like the idea of games meshing with the film industry. Then again I don't play much games anymore, but in terms of industry direction what QD is doing is vital imho.

74!!! Woot woot

IMDB have it at an 8.3, so it must be a good game.
