Those guys have too much shovelware^

Sega and Namco are the only two I think who could do it.

If we consider ips alone, sega would win hands down. but sega is currently a shadow of it's former self, that's why it wouldn't stay alive on it's own.

Nintendo can survive if they make their own consoles.

Sega is still in the arcade and distribution business. I saw their sticker the other day in Butte for a prize machine. They have the most used arcade 'systems' being used today.

If the question were to also include Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft then my answer would be Nintendo. They have some of the best first party titles and some of their franchises such as Mario, Super Mario and Pokemon are the best selling video game franchises ever.

I need to stop buying games...

I'd think EA. Big hitters on multiple fronts: Battlefield/Battlefront for shooter fans, Madden/Fifa for sports fans, ME/DA for RPG fans, and even a few off-beat projects like Peggle and Plants vs. Zombies.

Other 3rd parties have big franchises, but I'm not sure they have the variety to appeal to a broad enough audience to support a console.

Sega failed because they ran out of money they had tied up in the Arcade business. I think that just means they lack foresight. But so does everyone else in one respect or another .

Ubisoft's trying to put their hands in everything but they produce way too much shovelware. Activision's getting small(they also have much in the way of the PC space) as does EA.These are licensing publishers man. Nintendo and Sony dont license shit.

No Sega failed because they released too many products in too short a time and killed consumer confidence in their products. They wouldnt have had cash issues if they hadnt ran their consumers off.

Your question is basically: If any gaming company has their own console and only their own (current) franchises on said decive, which of them would survive? Right?

IMO Nintendo is the world's only gaming company which can survive on 1st/2nd party games alone.

EA wouldnt have anything because the deals they have involve them on being multiplatform^

I have to disagree that Sony would survive. The only one of the big three with enough first party to survive would be Nintendo of course. Although I am an Xbox fan I guess by virtue of 360 and soon to be Xbox One as my primary systems ... I don't, however, think I would ever buy a system for just Halo, Gears and Fable (Forza doesn't matter to me since I don't do racing). Sony would be just as doomed though. Nobody would pay $400 just for God of War, Gran Turismo and Uncharted and a handful of mediocre games.

EA would survive ... would get healthy income from their annual sports releases and Battlefield. Could fill out the library with things like Dead Space, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge ect.

I would say that Rockstar would survive, but they are more about quality over quanity ... you would have maybe a game or two released per year. They would be great, but only two games would not make a system.

SE and Ubisoft would probably go the way of THQ.

So yeah ... just EA and Nintendo (the Wii U is pretty much only 1st party at this point) would last with just their own franchises to sustain them.

Atlus... Thir console would be incredible niche yet its fans will keep it alive for as long as they keep making SMT games...
