Is greater sales potential alone justification enough to determine the artistic style of the next Zelda game?

I want the Zelda they showed off when they announce the Wii u. That's where they should go on the WiiU. They can keep the cartoon Zeldas for the 3ds.

I hated twilight princess, it's the first Zelda game I couldn't bother to finish. Hated everything about it. I'd rather go back to play 2 before I ever touch TP again. I think they only reason it sold as well as it did was because it was the first one available for the Wii.

The second Zelda game I never finished was wind waker. And I skipped the last one on Wii. Is it worth playing? I keep thinking about picking it up but i just can’t bring myself to do it, i don’t want to be further disappointed by one of my favorite franchise.

I would definitely recommend finishing Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and playing Skyward Sword. You're missing out on a huge chunk of the series without them.

We started off pretty strong with everyone getting what I was asking, but people are starting to get confused.

I'm not saying anything negative in any way about any past Zelda game or the way it was represented.

I'm not saying that I don't like the art style used in Twilight Princess or that I felt THAT was sacrificing the artistic integrity of the series.

What I'm asking is whether you think the art style of the next Zelda game should be determined purely by the sales potential it holds. I'm not even asking you what kind of style the next game should have! ONLY whether or not the apparent sales potential of any given art style should be the primary factor Nintendo considers when determining the art direction for the next Zelda game.

Yes, it should. Absolutely.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

I do think they should decide it based on potential sales, since it could help the wiiu a lot. The video that was showed here earlier on pretty much sums it up, the majority of the Zelda fanbase prefers the realistic style. This is also visible in the sales, although Majora's Mask didn't sold that well if I'm correct, but ok. From a sales perspective and from my personal preference I hope they stay with the realistic style for future Zelda games.

Hell no. It didnt help TW101 all that much.
It needs a natural creative process that blends and meshes well and creates a better product. Otherwise, dont give a hoot about it.

Whether its more detailed and anime like or gritty and cartoony.

Amazing how 'art style' was never an issue until Aonuma took the reigns and decided on chibi link for WW.
As for the OP, you go towards market favor not against it. So my answer is Yes.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Am I the only one who saw the deficiencies in that trailer?

It was a tech demo that was displaying the kind of graphical fidelity people could expect to get out of Wii U. That's it and that's all.

It wasn't a finished, polished product. But, that doesn't mean that it didn't offer a great glimpse of what I would WANT Zelda to look like in HD. And honestly, even just being an early tech demo, it still looked gorgeous.

I'd go so far as to say that Zelda demo looks better than any game yet shown on Wii U with the exception of Monolith Soft's X.

to answer your question directly,.. nintendo is a for profit company and every decision should be make with the aim to make more profit.

That would actually require nintendo to give a damn about the above teen demographic. Lol Not happening.

Taking a more "realistic" style actually benefits Nintendo in the long run.

1.Zelda sales go up.

2.Less time until fans start crying for an HD remake. Did WW NEED an HD version? No, it still aged well. Does TP need one? Yeah.
