I think they need a big name game such as GTA or Half Life for Vita to truly save it now... it needs something that will get people to go out and buy it just for that one game... then it might have a chance to get out of the hole its in.

Unless Sony paid Square Enix a whole lot of money, that's not going to happen.  Square Enix has refused to remake the game this long, why do it for a platform that is a handheld that is selling rather poorly.   
A FF VII Remake would do significantly better on a platform with much higher sales, is more powerful, and can be played on the big screen natively.  Why?  You just have to look at the kinds of statements they have been making about the remake, of course.

Apparently there really is a problem with the PS Vita, though, because I still don't think I'd buy one.  Even for the exclusivity of HL3.  Yikes!
