So, you are comparing America dis-favorably to Stalin's Soviet Union while at the same time calling for people to not judge North Korea too harshly?
I think I need an aspirin.

Must be extra tough on you considering your reading list.
I also just wonder what he considers communist. As depending on your definition, a bunch of countries fit if you see NK as communist. Cuba, hell even China. A lot of these countries are state planned all the way.
the main American propaganda really is Fox News, i seriously don't know why it's called news.
But i guess we could all go round claiming the opposition view is brainwashing and misleading.
But seriously comparing Stalin to 21st century America is on a whole new level. At least America don't murder it's own citizens for merely being political dissidents. It don't do that shit at all. And yet you want us to be nice to North Korea which is basically a copy of Stalinist believe and in reality is really a medieval kingdom with a crazy and unpredictable leadership. And you wonder why we don't want them to have nukes. They are too nuts.

umm there are literally slave camps all over NK.
ANd there are international escapees from NK who tell their story of torture and death.
i know every little detail of how korean people are oppressed ,the reason behind it it that NK does nt have market economy.China has market-economy, that fact that communists have the power doesn 't say a thing ,the economy is that matters. Capitalism doesn t care about democracy or dictatorship. Capitalism has democracry only when the situation is safe and there isn 't any danger for the economic system. For example in my country AMERICA supported the seven year military junta regime 1967-1974 just because of the *communist disease *that would be transfered in africa and middle east though greece because greece was the only country in the balkan no having a state aspousing socialism-communism. That seven year regime executed a lot of people and sent thousands to prison camps and that under the wings and support of democratic America !!!! OPEN YOUR EYES !!!

I do as well. And while I don't agree with most of the points about North Korea in the OP I do think that a lot of brainwashing takes place in all countries including our own. Tyranny after all is most effective when those under it believe that they are free. |
Come on mate. In Australia, it is entirely a measure of one's own stupidity if one allows themselves to be brainwashed to the extent outlined in the OP. We have interest media, sure. I mean look at the Fairfax and Murdoch press. But we also have the capability and freedom to know more. We have access, in other words, to truth greater than our own. That is one of the most important things actively denied to the North Korean people.
If Australian's cannot or do not wish to see that, it is on them, same as Americans.

The United States and other interventionist nations belonging to the UN won't allow that to happen. No politician in the US that wants to be re-elected will suggest publicly that we withdraw from the de-militarized zone on the Korean peninsula. It would be career suicide. People will say that we don't support the troops and we will be laying off some of the military when they need jobs and to stay employed. Even though, you know, we've been there since the 1950's and are still there for no apparent reason, with absolutely no end in sight. Politicians and the military higher-ups will cling to as much power as they can for as long as they can, regardless of whether or not there is any valid reason to do so. Sad as it is, it's the truth. |
This is untrue.
It is the stated goal of successive South Korean governmnets to seek peaceful reunification, a goal the US Government openly (and genuinely) supports. I will grant you that the US would not relish this occuring in such a way that brings SK under NK control, or brings China down close to the current border between the two Koreas. But by the same token, China would prefer not to have a US-allied Korea on it's doorstep. Regardless, the US Military is stretched worldwide, it would actually suit their purposes enormously if they could withdraw from Korea, and have an enlarged and (eventually) strengthened and unified Korea as an ally.
A recent report outlined the need for future planning for reunification after an NK collapse, and was heavily cited in Western media:

It's unfair to despise NK because it seems like a failure to our standards. North Koreans aren't overpopulating the world like Africans and Indians, or eating away it's resources like the US or China. So in a sense they are much more stable than most of the other societies and cultures. That's worthy a round of applause.
However, the government itself is pretty bad. Too authoritarian and warmonger for my tastes. Also, they apparently torture people and stuff and that's a no-no for anyone who supports human rights. So you are being way too idealist right there. No one is perfect, neither us or them.

Ehmm... I'm pretty sure that after a unification the Korean government will just tell you: "OK, thanks for the help, now clear the minefields and get the F out of here". It's not like you guys are that almighty and everything depends on your decisions, if the Koreans decide to unite, you won't have anything to say about it. I don't like the idea of a war over there, be it either you, China or South Korea attacking. It would be best if the people of NK just decided to stop this madness, just like people in Poland did. I know it seems impossible, but hey - the USSR falling apart also seemed impossible just a few years ago...
Plus if you moved your forces from Korea maybe you could finally invade that bloody Syria, like you should have already done, instead of letting Russia humiliate you.
