Forums - Gaming Discussion - Assassin's Creed 4 delayed on Wii U, to launch with PS4/X1 versions (Europe only, apparently)

Well, I guess that's the Assassin's Creed comparisons out of the window now!

The comparison will be fairer, if anything, as it will be easy to put up head-to-head with the other 8th-gen consoles.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Hmm also since now next gen versions of AC4 get a same time release, how much should the Wii U version outsell the PS4/XB1 versions? It will have an substantial advantage in install base, ultimately. A few hundred thousands of copies more?

Lol have you seen the preorders for Wii U? ihavent and thats the point. LOL this has to be a joke the PS4xone versions have been on top of the charts for a while. Wii U version MIGHT leg it out and thats a big might.

Hmm I don't know. I've been hearing the whole year that games don't sell very good on Wii U because of the small install base, and can't compete with PS360 versions of multiplats because of the same reason, which I understand and think it's obviously true (especially the 2nd part). But now the roles are shifting, Wii U will have the install base advantage over PS4/XB1, so going by that logic Wii U version should outsell those platforms, am I right? So I ask those people by how much?

it should but it ISNT and thats my point. THe preorder numbers for PS4 xone are MUCH higher than those of WIi U. So to answer your question its not going to outsell those.

WHich brings me to my question what will people say then?

Well I for one will continue to say that third parties have spent the past 8 years building brand strength and consumer trust on Sony and Microsoft platforms and doing the opposite on Nintendo platforms.

I actually made a really good post the other day comparing sales of PS3 games, that nobody wanted to touch. Out of 2856 games or so that are listed on VGChartz, only 368 sold above 500k. the rest were below 500k on a console with an install base of nearly 80 million. Using their own standards 77% of PS3 games were a flop for selling below 500k

I presume you stopped counting at 1096 since the rest of the games aren't tracked in the DB at all (no sales) and these remaining ~ 1700 games are often PS1 classics; DLC; download-only games or simply typos of games which are already in the database.

You really should listen to me man^

well you have to start somewhere and here is UBisoft starting, BUT if it is too late then they might as well just pull the plug to hell with how forum goers feel. Pull the plug now make the games that sell on Sony MS systems and then make whatever sells on Ninty ones and call it a day. Everyone is happy that way.

I wonder what the excuse will be when PS4/X2 versions dont sale on par with PS360 versions? Install base? Delayed release? Sorry but those are not valid reasons. You guys better start thinking of something soon.

Now, where in my post did you get the sense that I was making a comparison between the current gen versions and Wii U version with respect to sales? Wii U games from third parties have, for the most part, been selling poorly even if you look at those numbers in isolation of other platforms. I suggest you look at the full scope of the argument before bringing validity into this.PS4/XB1 will be fine as long as they do decent numbers for new consoles - that has been the issue for most Wii U third party games.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

this guy...he gets it.

so long as it matches ps4/xb1 versions of the game and is superior to ps360... idc.

Granted I'm only buying Rayman and WatchDogs this year anyways.
