The GDC website reveals that four Square Enix staff members will be speaking at the Game Developers Conference 2008. The full list:
· Fumiaki Shiraishi and Toshiro Tsuchida will be presenting an in-depth look at the development process of Square Enix's Wii Ware launch title Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land.

· Isamu Kamikokuryo, Final Fantasy XIII's art director, will touch upon the secret of Final Fantasy art, how he gets inspiration, how he was trained, how his concept art influence the game development, etc.

· Taku Murata, the head of Square Enix's R&D. In this talk, Taku will describe the whole process of the engine development; why now, why not third party engine, what is unique, how it is being developed, what were challenges, etc. You'll be able to see the technological essence of Final Fantasy development.

Taku Murata's page also confirms that a new MMORPG is in development:

"The new game engine will be used for FINAL FANTASY XIII, new MMORPG under development, and other titles in the future."

This pretty much confirms that "the new MMORPG", which might actually be Final Fantasy Haresis XIII, will be released for the PlayStation 3 as it will use the White Engine.

Uhm where in the text does it say ,that it is going to be "PS3 exclusive" ? I don't know , whether or not the White Enigine has been adjusted for use on the 360 or the PC , but if they use this engine for the MMORPG it's very likely ,that it will at least go to the PS3 and I think that's what the text ment.

this sentence IMPLICITELY suggests the OP thinks that it will be PS3 exclusive :

How will the MMORPG survive on PS3's current install base? I also think the White Engine can be used on PC. FFXI still works great on my new laptop; I only have lag when there are a lot of characters on my screen at once.

that is an interpretation on your side , but it just states "it's coming to the PS3" not "it doesn't come to any other platform"

A SE mmo on the ps3 would be amazing...but the install base would be a problem...but i imagine they would relase it along side with a pc version

And the install base of 19 million is fine, when the game comes out.

White engine question: Is SE planning on licencing it or will they keep it only for inhouse projects?
