Noooo !
They became the european publishing arm of Atlus in the last months (Etrian Odyssey4, Devil Summoner and Millenium Girl is on the way)

...the video game god giveth ....and taketh away :(

Is it confirmed that Millenium Girl will come to Europe?

Sega owns Atlus now. What could possibly go wrong?!

If anything happens to NIS America it would be tragic :(.

It's time for JRPG's to start evolving or die out like the dodo bird.

Doesn't say why they left though.

There was another 2ch rumour in that NeoGAF thread:

"He said that the various subsidiaries formed by Nippon Ichi in 2011 (Studio ToOefuf, Counter Stop, and Nora) were actually meant to be measures taken against paying overtime owed to employees, but because of various problems with the management of the subsidiaries, all the employees were absorbed back into the main company eventually. But when the staff were absorbed back, they were told that because they are considered "new" employees, they will get the same basic pay as new hires, so they all left."

Sounds grim, but I'm not sure I believe it.

That sounds a little off, but would be a shame if true. NIS has always had a special place in my heart.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Implication that Sega might forbid Atlus to sell publishing rights to another company?

Aside from having Nintendo publish some of their titles in select regions, don't they publish (or not) just about everything in house?

Dark souls/Demons SOuls is made in japan, best game this entire generation..................................Not too  mention Ni no kuni was excellent. JRPG's are fine. just because Square/enix  jhas their head up their butt, doesn't mean all JRPG's are dying or dead.

Dark souls and demon souls the best games this generation ? hardly

BTW ni no kuni was boring.

I am having trouble reading your tone. Your initial comment seemed like sarcasm.

But yes, Sega owning Atlus now finally gives Atlus an established European branch. That should be good, but on the other hand you have Sega developed games like Valkyria Chronicles 3 and Yakuza 5 that don't leave Japan, hence why I don't see any guarantee that Atlus games are now a lock for Europe. Thus a scenario where Sega doesn't bring Millenium Girl to Europe and at the same time denies NISA (took over the duties for Etrian Odyssey IV) to publish the game is a possibility.

The intial post was sarcastic. I'm down on Sega at the moment, especially since it doesn't seem interested in localizing many titles (or developing very many, for that matter), but I'm unsure how it does business in Europe. It seems like Atlus was just beginning to get a good grip on American publishing, and was making inroads in Europe via partnerships. I worry that Sega will negate much of that.

Gameplay and level design and atmosphere, Nothing comes close to the souls series, sorry. You saying ni no kuni was boring, is pretty much irrelevant. The game was a critical and commercial success.
