Forums - Gaming Discussion - Parting Post: GTA V's success is bad for the videogame industry.

I saulte you good sir and good-bye

WOW someone takes this place and internet forums, and gaming way too seriously. If you have to make a post like this it's time to reflect.

Why GTA? What about yearly COD? Why single out GTA here?

I agree.

To me, GTAV typifies the kind of bloated AAA production that's draining money and attention away from more creative games.

GTA is more creative then most.......The 3 characters, and wealth of gameplay options, dialog put most games to shame....GTA online looks as robust as many online only games. Sorry, but strongely disagree with your post. ROCKSTAR are on of the shining stars of the industry.

A good way to departure. No matter if you're right or wrong, it's a great OP. And I agree. GTA V will just make the fall higher.

ahahha

DO people really think this??

Huh, GTA does amazing on consoles....so why is angry birds and candy crush making so much on ios. WHy are indies doing FINE on mobile and indie bundles, despite huge games like halo and gta and cod?

GTA was good for the industry overall because it is a game that draws in alot of audience. Otherwise we wouldn't have as many console gamers resulting in a less profitable industry.

LOL, Isn't this like your third or fourth departure? I guess you're really serious this time....Good bye, I guess, See in an a few weeks.

Tagged for latter to read the likely hilarious OP.

That's like saying lions are bad for the eco-system because they eat all the smaller animals. You're an idiot to look at the world this way. I'm guessing you were bullied by tougher kids in school when you were young. And now you're leaving on such an overdramatical note.

Grow a pair, sir.

If anything, it's the success of cynically made "games as a service drug" like Candy Crush that is bad for the industry. No name companies turning into multi billion dollar IPOs overnight on the strength of a single game is the definition of unsustainability, and it infects games across the spectrum as publishers rush to cram microtransactions and energy meters and the like into retail games.

But bemoaning the fact that *gasp* big publishers want big hits and will copy other successful things to get them, and crying about the death of the mid tier while belittling the indies who largely are the new mid tier, and ignoring how more and more people are leaving major studios to make their own games based on their own visions which can only be a good thing if you want someone to make the next Katamari, and hanging all these perceived evils around the neck of GTAV... all reeks of "things were better in my day"-ism.
