Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Buy Professor Layton and the Curious Village Thread!

This thread is devoted to the cause of getting people to buy the innovative title from Level-5, Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

What is Professor Layton?

Professor Layton is a trilogy of games developed by the acclaimed developer Level-5, and published by Nintendo in America and Europe. Professor Layton and the Curious Village is the first game in the trilogy. The games are a puzzle/adventure game mix. You basically go from one puzzle to the next with adventure-style exploration in between, trying to solve the mystery of the Curious Village.

Why should you buy it?

Because it's a creative and unique game made by a very good developer. It's brimming with style, humor, and cleverness. A new puzzle is released weekly via DLC on the Nintendo wi-fi connection. That's about all I have to say on it. I hope you guys will give it a chance, so that this very unique and artistic trilogy will have a chance to be successful in America. Enjoy the trailer:

Give me the money and I'll buy it. How does that sound to you? Really though, it isn't my kind of game.

What a horrible trailer. Any chance this game is going to be released in Europe?

It's out today in Europe.  Just as it is in America.  And are you serious about the trailer being horrible?

Found nothing about an European release of the game. And yes, the trailer is horrible. I don't like that sort of trailer, full of cutscenes and little to no gameplay scenes. Doesn't give a good idea what the game is about.

If you couldn't find the European release date you fail at the internet: http://gonintendo.com/?p=33771

As far as there being too many cutscenes, they are a major part of the game. Think of this game like Ace Attorney... it's as much about the plot, characters, and style as it is about the gameplay. I don't know what else you really want from that trailer. It's a puzzle adventure game. The gameplay is going to be nothing shocking.

BTW, the puzzles are made by Akira Tago, an acclaimed puzzle creator in Japan.  He's the creator of a series called Head Gymnastics, a series of puzzle books that have sold more than 12 million copies in Japan.

I thought that it isn't announced for EU until some minutes ago.

Then I found this:

Great, if true!

3 long awaited DS games for me next week:
- Final Fantasy XII - Revenant Wings
- Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
- Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Looks interesting, will put this game on my shopping list.

@Naz,
Have you played this game yet? Do you like it better than the Phoenix Wright trilogy?
