Forums - Gaming Discussion - Only one X1 game running at 1080p?

Icy-Zone said:

Gamefaqs user compiled this list btw. I think it's interesting.

Killzone.....1080p
DC............1080p
Knack.......1080p
Infamous...1080p
Resogun...1080p

vs

Forza........1080p
Ryse..........900p
KI...............720p
BF4............720p
DR3.........."Dynamic resolution"

It is interesting, but it doesn't necessarily mean much.

For instance, there are many 1080p Wii U games, but I think about everyone will agree that the Xbox One games look superior.

They forgot Crimson Dragon, running at 1080p as far as I know. Cevat tweeted "Full HD XP" (edit: sorry, 900p native is correct) for Ryse, so count that in too. And let's not forget Lococycle.

IMO they shouldn't have listed inFamous, things can change over time (just like it did with many launch games, for better or worse). There are also other games to consider, like Project Spark or TitanFall, I know the resolution, framerate etc. are not "confirmed" yet but as the pi guy said, we should rather wait until we have a legitimate confirmation (when the games come out).

To show how completely useless these graphics discussins are:

Killzone.....30fps
DC............30 fps
Knack.......30 fps
Infamous...30 fps
Resogun...60 fps

vs

Forza........60 fps
Ryse..........30 fps
KI...............60 fps
BF4............60 fps
DR3..........30 fps

You can keep using these arguments towards one or the other, or just focus on quality in gaming and less about graphics you have not even seen in motion yet.

Killzone's SP runs in 30fps but the multiplayer runs mostly at 60fps. Have the framerates for Knack and Infamous ever been confirmed? Also, that BF4 is running at 60fps might prove pointless to mention if the PS4 ends up running the game at 1080p with 60fps while the X1 only does so at 720p.

All the rumors I read about Knack and Infamous are 30fps, as are most things until they are actually released :). The fact that you try to even find excuses for KZ:SF and instead focus on the multiplayer just goes to show how people try to defend PS at all cost. Neither X1 or PS4 needs defending, the choices of resolution vs. fps and such are design choices and ways to balance games compared to performance.

Btw, KZ:SF looks insanely good looking and I would rather focus on complementing the developers for succeding so well with these first releases on new platforms, insted of nitpicking resolution or fps. But you just proved my point how people forget quality gaming just because new consoles are arriving :).

Actually what you've shown is that when someone is in attack mode they will take anything someone says contrary as a big defense and treat them like an opponent and someone to step on. Climb down from your pedestal, sweetheart. I was not defending PS. I was making a clarification that is actually important to make. Enough false information has been tossed around. I wanted to do my part to stop it before someone else starts running around shouting down another game because fo something you said. There are people around here who will take anything.  I was not looking to get into some dick measuring contest with you. You can unclench your anus now.

Could care less what resolution the games run at. How it looks is all that matters to me. Still waiting to see the final build of Ryse. Crytek talks as if they have achieved the closest thing to movie quailty graphics. Nonthing else intrest me.

What's dynamic resolution? it's supposed to be good?, by the way, nice that almost every game will run at 1080p natively on ps4, just need to improve the FPS thing that I'm sure it will down the road.

Think of netflix. If you're downloading a ton of things while streaming a movie in 1080p resolution, Netflix will automatically lower the resolution to accomodate your slower internet speeds. The resolution will return if you more bandwith (don't quote me on this).

What's really interesting is that the one retail game which doesn't work without an online download add-on, is the only game that runs at 1080p.

Hasn't this been debunked a while ago?

I have a pretty lenghty article from a German magazine debunking this sitting around somewhere...but personally can't tell 30fps and 60fps apart either

So DC-devs aiming for nothing... And so is KZ.

The human eye can definitely see up to something like 240fps, but only blips.
However, consistent appreciation of 60fps is largely irrelevant, and is only relevant as a barometer of how SLOW the fps will get.

IE: 60 fps is good because at slowdown, then it's still likely producing over 30, meaning it's hard to tell slowdown is occuring.
However, a game that runs consistently at 30fps is fine. Most movies run at 24fps, as does tv.
