Well im making this thread because i wanna know who else consider himself being good at SSBM so I can have in target my rivals for Brawl. I wanna know if someone plays this game at a pro level (applying advanced combat techniques). Right now, I have most of the records of the event matches in melee of the Vgchartz community (well, but that may be because a lot of people doesnt know that thread even exists, or are just too lazy to go check their records and then come back to post them. Here is the link to that thread ).

Ill start with myself. I consider myself being pretty good at melee, but I dont play it at a pro level I only apply the most basic techniques in the game. I have never played with someone that is better than me, yea im the best smash player in my region (although basically I live in a non gamer area). I have clocked over 700 hours of play time (notice play time, not power time, my power time is already over 1000 hours, but i think that time doesnt count the time while you are checking the menus or watching your trophies or checking data and so on). My main is Mario although i swapped to him just recently, my other mains before mario was marth, peach, luigi in that order.  Im looking forward to kicking your arse in Brawl.

i havent played it in a while so i might have gotten a little weaker.
but when i used to play it everyday i was unstoppable
i have probably played it around 500 hours
when i plaay it i play it at pro level

On a scale from 1-10. I'd say 8.5. I can still improve a lot. I am very good, but no where near the best.

I suck at it.

Come on, everyone should try to break my records in the event match, I didnt even tried in a lot of them, they cant be that hard to outdo.

Im not that great in Melee. My best friend competes and usually nets a 1st or 2nd place wherever he goes. Rarely can I ever beat him. I can pretty easily beat level 9 computers (they are pretty dumb). I dont implement advanced techniques, although I do know how to do them (sometimes I edge guard, rarely wavedash and L-cancel).

More importantly, my best friend has played Brawl already. He has confirmed that it is a COMPLETELY different game. Just because you were good at Melee does not mean you will be a good player in Brawl.

I'd say middle range. I don't use wavedashing, and I'm not good at L cancelling, but I use everything else effectively. I'm certainly not a pro, make no claims at being a pro (alot of people make claims to be, even though they clearly are not). Link has been my main for Melee (fox was for the original smash), though in these late hours I've gradually started using Sheik more and more.

Here´s a shocker I own the game and NEVER got around to play it.

So should I give it a go? Would i be dissapointed or happy about the game if I love games like street fighter?
