Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wealthy Vita owner's, what would get you to want a less powerful 3ds?

Mario, Mario Kart, classic come backs, Smash, Japan imports, Animal Crossing, killer 3rd party games, do not seem to interest you because maybe the visuals are not up to date or you just do not trust Nintendo anymore maybe?

So what would get you to purchase one? Or even consider it?

I'm exactly the opposite case.

Own 3DS from day one - totaly disapointed by first year lineup (I was counting for Mario/Lugi/any other N heroes 2d/3d platformers).

My 3DS is getting dust so badly. Yesterday I've ordered PS Vita Killzone Bundle pack (gr8 money deal) because of PS Plus membership (I also have PS3). So after 2,5 year I own way more games on PS Vita (games from PS plus). The last straw was Touch My Katamari on PS+ this week. Sony made me no to buy games (sorry for bad english).

Y u no buy moar games? Y u be silly and only look at Mario/?

Y U NO BUY STEAMWORLD DIG?

Que pasa?

When I said the 3DS has a ton of games on the Eshop I meant it lol

Pokemon. I love my Vita but it doesn't have that lol Smash is another games that has my attention.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Why would you include Japan imports since the system is region-locked?

I have both systems. Both get must-have games I definitely can't do without, although Vita has increasingly more thanks to import.

Japanese PSN has all the good stuff though^

OLED's dont last long anyway. So LCD It is .

Is this really a problem? I use handhelds perhaps 10 hours a week... that would be 520 hours per year or 5200 hours in 10 years. Some weeks it can be much more than 10 hours, if a game really catches me... but in other weeks, the device ain't used at all.

In 2010 Samsung promised to increase the lifespan of amoled-displays from 50,000 hours to 100,000 hours: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Samsung-Promises-to-Double-AMOLED-Displays-Lifetime-145971.shtml

Sure, the color deviations begin a lot sooner, but not under 10, 000 hours in use.

10,000 hours = 400 handheld games with an average playtime of 25 hours... have you ever had a handheld with so many games played through?

I guess I'm a wealthy Vita owner, because I have both :P

Here's my take on the situation. Vita is a beautiful (if a little overpowered) piece of hardware, sleek and smooth. The OLED screen, as many have said, is gorgeous. Plus it has a few gems: Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048, and a bunch of multi-platform indie titles like Retro City Rampage and Guacamelee!

Technically speaking, the 3DS is inferior. It doesn't really have anything to compare to that pretty screen or the nuts and bolts inside. But it doesn't need anything. It's got games. Great games, from many different genres, from many different studios. It's got a nifty 3D effect that actually enhances gameplay in some titles, like Pilotwings Resort and Super Mario 3D Land. It's backwards compatible, a huge plus for fans who missed out on the enormous DS library. And, importantly, it has a Virtual Console with a bunch of classic NES and Game Boy titles available for download. So, to me, the 3DS is the better, more complete system.

But if you have the means, the time, and the energy to purchase and play both, I definitely recommend it. They serve as nice complements to one another.
