Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox 360: 6 Things it Does Better

Thanks to the Mics bundled with the system too many dim wits and preteens have the damn thing. Ive had to mute 20mil people on Xbox live compared to the 3 people on PSN

These are really stretching. If this is the best they can come up with then they 360 is going to be in a world of hurt. PS3 does support custom soundtracks in some games, so right there they are wrong (however, not nearly as much as the 360 does). The whole downloading thing, who cares, that is so minimal. XMB any day of the week. Friend mgt. PS3 needs to improve on, and I think it will with HOME. Communication? I mean, most of the time if I do talk on PS3 I talk only when I need to strategize with others as a team, other than that I'll use my cell phone, I don't think that this one is a big deal to most people.

All the Sony fanboys need to chill out already. Face it, Sony is NOT dominating this generation and that is NOT going to change, period. Also, anyone of you people trying to bash this list should STFU as Gamepro is one of the oldest video game magazines still around. I remember getting the FIRST issue of gamepro back in like 1987 when I bought a regular Nintendo game at Toys R Us. They were giving it away for free with a purchase to let people try it out. I respect Gamepro and have been a loyal customer of theirs ever since. I currently own about 50% of every issue, I missed a lot when I was a kid because I could not subscribe to it myself, but now I keep a permanent subscription.

Also, the anti-Microsoft crap needs to stop already as well. This was old 5, 6, 7 years ago, seriously. People are just jealous of Microsoft and Bill Gates. However, I have some news for you, Bill Gates spends more time and money on charity than just about any other rich person in the world.

P.S. I will take software from a SOFTWARE COMPANY (MS) over software from a HARDWARE COMPANY (Sony) any day of the week. MS makes good software, Nintendo makes good hardware and software, Sony makes good hardware and crappy software. Most of the big titles for the playstation consoles have been 2nd and 3rd party stuff.

"I will take software from a SOFTWARE COMPANY (MS) over software from a HARDWARE COMPANY (Sony) any day of the week."

Yup and I will take hardware from a Hardware Company (Sony) over the hardware from a Software Company (MS) anyday.
Good thing that the most important software (also known as games) for a game console is normally not made by the manufacturer of the console (Exception Nintendo) and that the console itself is hardware.

So I think its a good analysis, Sony is a hardware company, MS a software company. Because of this the instant messaging of the 360 is better. On the other hand the PS3 doesn't have these nice little red lights. Choose what is more important to you.

You missed the entire point of my post...

Secondly, the red rings argument is old and outdated as the issue is shrinking over time. By this time next year that issue won't even exist anymore. As a Sony fanboy you are just mad that Sony sucks ass these days in the gaming industry. They should just concentrate on making TVs IMO.

MS makes good software? I didn't know the broken OS named Windows was good...

And what do I care about Bill Gates for. No one brought him up here. Especially since he has nothing to do with the gamming division.

I fear Home will be a huge dissapointment. I dont' want to seed doubt, but as I've always said, if Sony fans should have learned anything this generation, its that they shouldn't get too excited about anything before its out.

That's' a lie if I've ever read one.

@ Topic

I'm not arguing this HOME thing again.  I'm soooo done arguing the same point over and over again, day in and day out.  HOME will be beneficial too all PS3 owners, and it will let people chat with their friends, and hook up to go into games together.  And Sony has stated that In-Game XMB is coming this year, which will fix being able to talk to your friends during games, etc.

In case you did not know, Windows is still in about 90% of ALL computers. Mac has never been big and will never be big and the Linux people have been saying the same "Linux is catching on" crap for the last 10 years. Also, Windows is not the only Software made by MS moron. Microsoft makes a lot of other software for businesses you have never heard about because you don't know anything about them. Microsoft sells more software than any other software maker in the world, the gaming side is actually very small. Also, they have made quite a few great PC games over the years, which are WAY better than console games anyway...

"Secondly, the red rings argument is old and outdated as the issue is shrinking over time."

If you buy a new one it is correct that the issue is taking a step back from outrageous to just bad. But for the 15mio 360 owners who already have one of these time-bombs the situation is not so nice. We make buggy products should be the Microsoft motto. They did it for software now they do it for hardware.

Seriously the 360 has great games and the core chips that were developed by AMD and IBM are pretty awesome. They shipped one year before the PS3 and are still able to compete well with it graphically. I would also give MS the thumps-up for their game development tools(according to developers) and internet services.

On the other hand everything hardware related MS did themselves (quality control, the case ...) has been awful beyond words. Scratched discs, crappy power brick, noisy console, RRoD. Even a MS fanboy should be able to concede this. Both consoles have clear advantages.

/psfanboymode:on And the PS3 will crush the 360 this year when they finally get some really big exclusives. Its all about the games /psfanboymode:off

First off, I am NOT a Microsoft fanboy. I currently own an Xbox360(under replacement plan for Best Buy so I can get 100000000 replacements for free), a Nintendo Wii, and a Sony PSP. That's right, I own 1 system from each company. In fact, I have owned about 90% of every system ever released in the United States over the last 23 years (I am 28, first system at 5). I have spent thousands of dollars on MS, Nintendo and Sony over the years, supporting all of them equally. However, I believe Sony has dropped the ball this time around and I will NEVER own a PS3. I get everything anyone could need in gaming from my 360, Wii, PSP and gaming PC...

Also, the PS3 is not going to "crush" anything. Microsoft will have a price drop, Sony will not. Plus, MS has big exclusives also, they just don't announce them 5 years in advance like Sony does...
